speaking of andy ogdahl.. isnt he the best defensemen in the section? from what i have seen i defiantly think he is...

How can you say Ogdahl is the best D in the section. I'm pretty sure Burgau and Kohn from New Ulm could skate circles around him.

On the topic of the NU and Marshall game, I have to defend my boys. Though they may rely on classless actions to try and make up for looking like trash, the game was a fluke. Obviously, the NU team can compete, beating LDC, and laying a beat down very recently on Prairie Centre, 9-1. Also, NU made Hutch look pretty bad. I think the match at home between Marshall and NU should be a very good game and the better side of NU will shine through. Not to say Marshall isn't a solid hockey team, the line with Krogen and Doom is very strong. I can't wait for the next NU/Marshall game!

Sounded like the only circles being skated were the Marshall forwards around Burgau and Kohn

How can you say that game was a fluke? Marshall worked the whole game through beginning to end, even when they were ahead 7-1 it gave them no excuse to slack off. The majority of the time Marshall does beat New Ulm...and everytime they do win their seems to be some kind of excuse for them winning?

I think that Marshall is a good team. When the two teams play again I would have to give them the nod. But I seen that NU beat Prairie Centre last night 9 - 1. NU must have played a little better then on Tues. Unless I am wrong I don't think most of the time Marshall wins its more like 50 - 50. Should be a great game when they play in NU. Maybe I'll make that trip. One last thing I think the Marshall coach has his kids under control more then the coach from NU.

Possibly because NU has put up solid wins against LDC, Willmar, and now Prairie Centre. Anything that could've happened poorly for New Ulm did in the Marshall game, and Marshall was playing great hockey. The Eagles are far better than a 7-1 loss, none of them came out to skate. Burgau and Kohn are still the best defensive tandem in the section. Only 22 shots on goal in the Marshall game. The loss may have not been a fluke for NU, but the score definitely was. Nobody saw the 6 point difference coming.

Maybe Hutch thinks that was game was a fluke
Oh and if 6-2 is making them look bad....How does that make New Ulm look after a 7-1 loss?

My mistake, I meant Hutch. I still think that New Ulm did not show up to the Marshall game. New Ulm and Marshall are very equal teams and the score does not do New Ulm justice. I wasn't at the NU/Marshall game, but it does sound pretty bad on New Ulm's part and Marshall is pretty strong in the section.

All that needs to be said about the NU Marshall game is that the shots were 22 to 22. If you can't paint your own picture of that you shouldn't be on here. Marshall won 7-1. The good thing for NU is that unlike the other section teams is they get Marshall again right before seedings come out. Maybe a case of who gets the #1? NU has already beat Litch and Hutch, we'll see how Marshall does against them.

I think if Marshall plays like they did against New Ulm they will come out with a win no problem... I'd say 6-3 because Willmar and Marshall have always had some good games, but I think this is the first time Marshall has ever played Willmar for Varsity, correct me if I'm wrong.
For the best line in the section as of now I would give it Marshall's line with Tony Krogen, Aaron Ogdahl, and John Doom. They are putting up some great numbers and so far no one has been able to stop them.

Marshall has by far the weakest schedule of any team in the state

But apparently when they play teams like New Ulm or Willmar they can still come out with wins and is it really their fault that they are in the Southwest Conference and have to play all of the Southwest Conference teams? They just do what they have to do which is go out, play hard, and win no matter what the team is

I would have to disagree with that statement. The only weak games they play are the games of their conference, in other words, the games they must play. Aside from conference games, the schedule is very equal to many other teams in the state.
In my opinion, New Ulm's schedule isn't too challenging either apart from one or two games.

Wow you are an idiot to say New Ulm has a very weak schedule. I believe they go to the Duluth Marshall tournament who happens to be one of hte top teams in the state. They also have to play shattuck. It's not our fault that the top teams dont want to play us because we keep up with them and make them look bad in the rankings. And I wasnt talking about the marshall forwards skating around burgau and kohn so get your story right.

oh so marshall has like 3 hard section games (NU twice & LDC out of like 25 ) now thats a tuff schedule

even if new ulm has a tougher schedule marshall still beat them 7-1 so does it really matter..?

bombsquad06, earlier you bashed nu's goaltending. If you don't know about goaltending in nu, you should know that the last 3 years were played by Buegler. I know of the #'s he put up there so there is big pressure from all sides for the two goalies in nu. I know of the job they did there before the marshall game and the numbers are ok. I think for 33's first ever varsity experience this year it is understandable that there are slip ups. If you played hockey you would know that slip ups happen. It doesnt help 33 at all if his team is in the penaty box half the game. They need to understand that yes it feels good to nail the opponent but it hurts his team as a whole.

bodangles8, you should check the schedules before you say anything. why dont you check who marshall really plays? you should also look at Hutch's schedule and the conference they are in. they'll be there at the end of the year. and another thing, nu ALWAYS makes excuses when they lose. they never give any team credit when it's deserved. it's always something different. regardless of this, they are still the team to beat imo

ok either way you look at it marshall still beat new ulm...it doesnt matter if they have a young goaltender, or it was a "fluke" bottom line they won, and yes i know most people still think new ulm is the better team, and they could be, the best team does not always win, i know its hard for some of you new ulm fans to realize that, but its true, "fluke" or just good game, either way marshall W, new ulm L. You can say new ulm has a harder schedule all you want, as they may, but i still see marshall staying quiet and doing what they have to do to win, every team they beat might be a "fluke" but im sure if you asked them they would take any win they can. That being said i would say new ulm DOES have a harder schedule in my opinion, and i think once they gain more experience in these tough games, they will be a much tougher team, and the next time marshall and new ulm play, it will be a really close game.
