Hahaha....
what's with Sontag making the team?

Sonts is a great kid, average hockey player. Lech knows Sonts will not complain being a 4th line player. This way a younger kid who has more talent will get more time on JV, rather than play 4th line on varsity.

With NINE (9) Seniors on this years squad, is this a win it this year or it will be a while for Hill Murray? The talent loss after 07-08 will be huge and may not be made up for years...
Make it or break it year for the Pioneers or not?

Definately not a "make or break" season for Hill. A look at their roster shows talent returning after this year. This season is viewed as an "opportunity" to compete with the best teams in the state. The pieces of the puzzle are in place but now the work actually begins. Let the games begin!

Agree. HM has a nice mix. 3 top forwards - Cecka, Furne & Singerhouse, top D pair - Sova & Dolan and Phillippi in goal - are seniors. They then have a great group of speedy junior forwards - Zepeda, Kohls, Westerhaus & Widing - that may emerge as their top scorers this year. No big drop off next year.

What are you expecting to happen to keep the Pioneers from reloading year after year?
Hill-Murray is in the State Tournament almost every year since first becoming eligible in 1975... much more than any other team in Minnesota.
For some reason, 2008 looks like a Championship year for Hill. Is it because the 1983 team will be celebrating 25 years? Or is the 2008 team more like that 1991 team which won the last All-School Tournament?
What a great tourney 1991 was... beating neighborhood rival by six goals... scoring from center ice and a State record 7 goals in one period to become the only H-M squad with a post-season win against the Indians... coming back from 0-2 and 1-3 against the Dulutherans... H-M enrollment then smaller than Roseau... more hated than Edina....
The Pioneers have had at least one Championship each decade...
1969-1970
1971-1972
1982-1983
1990-1991
So the Pioneers are due (why not a threepeat before the decade is out?)!

That's if three of the 4 stick around. They will lose most of thier D and the stallwart in nets for the past 5 years. Next year will be someone elses turn from Section 4. Also watch for a kid from JV to be moved up by mid-season...freshmen R Holler. I heard he has started out pretty hot for the JV team already.

Pucknut echoes the point about H-M reloading year after year (as needed),
Pioneer JV developing into "hot" prospects even before the season begins,
and fans of the competing teams already looking for hope... "Next year."
The more things change... the more they stay the same for Hill-Murray!

What 6 prospects do they have coming up from JV? I heard there were a lot of 9th graders. Isn't it a pretty young group?
