Wow...Marshall knows they are going to win this. Why should I even drive to Cloquet?

The blizzard conditions were not enough to keep DM from skating today and yes, Mausolf was on the ice.

I am sure that SCC players/fans would love to see 2/3 of DMs top line sit out hurt for the section final, however I don't forsee that happening. I hardly think that the Toppers are taking this game lightly! I am sure that Coach Flaherty has them ready to take on the Crusaders on Saturday. And that they will be skating and taking advantage of the 2 extra days!!

This might not be worth anything, but the gut feeling is in and says that this could be a 2 goal win for SCC. The reasons for the SCC win are as follows:

1. Its large senior class will lead the way. They are physically and mentally ready for this section final. They have been on a mission to get this team to state since the end of last year and the other players have followed their leadership. Determination will be a huge factor.

2. Goaltending and defense. Both have been spectacular in the post season. This will be one of the keys for the game.

3. Health. SCC is in great shape right now.

4. Physical play. The forecheck is a strong point and will wear down a team and create turnovers and several of the D can absolutely lay out an opponet.

5. Peaking at the right time. With its lineup intact, SCC has been playing their best hockey of the year the past few weeks.

6. Intangibles. A young defenseman will shine on this night.

7. Respect. This team wants it and deserves it. While DM is worthy of praise, it's time to pass the torch this year.

This should be another tremendous 2A final.

Great analysis BlueGoose........

I would love to see Marshall not make it to the big show....

SCC wins by a score of 5-3

I'll take the better hockey team (DM) over your "gut feeling" any day, bluegoose. You and allstar are HOPING for SCC to have a good game, and that's why you are making the brazen prediction of a two goal win. You fail to take into account that DM's defense is perfectly intact, and playing in sync. They will not even get 2 goals on DM, and you can quote me on that. Duluth Marshall is on something like a 10 game winning-streak. You think that's going to be stopped? Some gut feeling. How about this, I completely provide you an anti-thesis, and you watch it come true, saturday at 5. Here it is.

True you have 13 seniors. How many of them play? DM has 9 seniors on this team, almost all contributors. Brendan is going to have these boys ready to go. They even skated today even though school was called off. And how can you say SCC has been on a mission, and DM hasn't? Here's a little determination for you, it's called 3-2-1. Marshall wants more than anything to get back into the big dance.

DM's goaltending at times can be suspect. Behning has a way of being hot and cold, but he's going to be ready for Saturday. Also, all defenders are going to be in full health, wait, basically the whole team is going to be near 100%. I'll admit your team has been playing better with their roster back, but that doesn't equate to a two goal win. You and I both know this is going to be a closer game than that. And DM will pull this one out.

I'll one up you, a better young defenseman by the name of Dano Jacques will step up big on March 3rd. See you there.

Like I said, why should I even drive to the game?

I'll go to the 4A final instead because the game in Cloquet will not even be a contest.

Defense and goaltending win championships, and SCC is superior in both of those aspects.

I don't know whether to  or give some snappy response such as "since they built Mars Lakeview Arena". So I'll abstain here for the moment. Image

This game is going to be a close one, you'd be crazy to think otherwise.

Both teams have had 20+ wins this season and have both proven themselves in big games. The depth is there for both teams, and it's likely going to come down to who wants it more. Expect a helluva hockey game, I know I do.

Abstain?

Should be one of the better section games this season. It was a good game the first time they played and I will expect nothing less this time around.

Thank you DmnHawk5. You truly are the most modest of the DM fans. DM Shennanigans obviously hasn't seen SCC play. Otherwise he's just another kid saying that his team is best. These two teams are VERY evenly matched. Neither team should look past the other.

Like I said ealier, Defense wins championships...SCC has the edge in that category. That's why I think SCC will win the game. But I will give DM credit, they have a good club and wouldn't be one bit surprised by a DM win.

This will probably be the best section final in Class A hockey this year. I would have said the 7A final would, but it didn't turn out that way.

On a side note, I'm kind of glad that the game got pushed to Saturday. It can put all the mumbo jumbo about SCC having to go to school and drive up there aside. This evens that argument out considerably. Look for one of the best high school hockey games of the year to happen in Cloquet on Saturday. If it's anything like the first match-up between these two teams, it surely won't disappoint.

I said that.

I believe this is going to be phenomenal game, my hearts with DM, but is that any different than anyone else's being with SCC?

DM will take SCC to the woodshed and than proceed to move to section 7AA where they rightfully belong.

True, DmnHawk may not be a DM fan.

Also true that SCC people will take SCC and DM people will take DM.

I am an SCC fan, but I prefer to look at it this way...

SCC has a little better defense and a much better goalie.

DM has slightly better forwards (assuming Gutsch is at 100%).

That being said...I'll take SCC in this game. I think they have the speed and size to match DM. Rindelaub has been on fire, which has added considerably to their offensive power. Hess hasn't seen many biscuits in the past two games, but he has played well when he's seen shots.

Very well put, Blanda. That's exactly the kind of argument I wanted to see. Best of luck to your team, it's going to be a nail biter, simple as that.

Well from what i see listening to you guys that dm is the underdog in this one.If you think that Jacques and Stauber won't step up and show you who wins championchips your wrong their the reason dm WILL win.Behning has only let in 1 goal in the playoffs. Dm is gonna come ready to play. DM,5 SCC,2

it will be interesting to see what DM does with their lines assuming Mausolf is out and the possibility of Gutsch not being able to play.
