Regardless, they deserved to win as Stillwater couldn't control the puck. Most winning teams can sustain possession with a few passes tied together and Stillwater didn't complete many passes, and certainly didn't control the puck on carry-ins either. Not as crisp a game as I had thought we'd see. Congrats to WB. Looking forward to friday.
I've seen Stillwater a few times this year and I would call their defense as a whole weak. Corbette is solid as is Goff, the rest of them are not very good. One of those other guys, can't remember his number but a tall kid seems to skate around in circles in a panic, hardly ever do you see him make a decent pass. They seem to be more obsessed with getting a big hit on someone than making a hockey play IMO.

Their goalie I'm not that impressed with. I have no idea why the hype on him.

Can someone describe the winning goal to me? I looked at a wide open Birkinbine away from the play, and the next thing I know, I catch the redlight coming on out of the cornor of my eye. Missed it!

StayAtHomeD what have you been drinking? Cates is solid.... no doubt about it and as far as the Stillwater defense Mogren was a first line starter since he was a sophomore.....guess that does not make him any good.

Congrats to the W.B.L team. They are having a great year. Let's hope they can continue.

I just report on what I've seen. Goff and Corbette are the only two I see playing a minute of hockey after they graduate. If I'm wrong on their goalie then I'm wrong but I've seen him give up some goals a guy as hyped as him should be stopping.

Stillwater was terrible in 5 on 5 hockey, and the Bears controlled play thoughout. SW scored their goals on a shorthanded 2 on 1, and then on the PP.

I like the way #27 for SW plays defense. Not sure what his name is, but he looked good in all phases of the game. He just made one bad pass at the end that got picked off and resulted in the winning goal.

The torch hasn't been handed over to SW yet, but their time is coming.

I felt this was the worst game of the three that these teams played this year. Both Stillwater and WBL played very nervous in the first period. WBL while owning the territorial advantage they didn't look as dynamic to me as they have in the past games. Whalin was not as much of an influence as he was in the other games. Maybe it was the big hit he took in the first but he did not have the impact I would have expected.

Stillwater was lucky to be in the game because their best players (Corbett and Mogren) had what I would call some of their worst games of the year. They didn't control the game in their end which they absolutley can do and didn't move the puck out of the zone with any level of efficiency. I thought Cates was the best player in this game overall for both teams.

Seems to me Stillwater would have had a better chance against hill becuase they are used to getting outshot and keeping games close (Cates!)...that is how they play. Not sure what everyone else saw but I think the WBL D will get destroyed by the Hill forwards. WBL will get out shot by a large margin, outplayed and Schletty will be shelled. My heart says go Bears but my head says the "Ponieers" by 3 goals.

Stillwater has 2 more years before they really start to get into the meat of their talent. From Bantams down through squirts there is a lot of talent there....the question will it be another "8 ponies on the ponieers" type of situation or can they at least keep 2/3rds of their best players in Stillwater. They may be helped by the split up of Woodbury. I think more Hill may bet more Woodbury kids than Stillwater kids because they want a chance to win and it will be much more difficult to do that with the 2 high school system they have there now.

27 for SW (solid, smart player) made a weak and ill advised pass from the corner toward the center of the ice that was picked off inside the faceoff circle and one timed over the goalies left shoulder for the goal. It was only a matter of time before SW's inability to break out of their zone with crisp passes was going to bite them, but this was the worst lapse of the evening. Unfortunate timing.

StayAtHomeD, what game are you watching? Cates is by far the best goal tender we saw all year.

SW D I thought is very strong with Morgen and Corbet leading the team. #6 is good also, just needs to settle down. 5 and 25 seem to play a very defensive game with little rushing, but didn't give up any room to WB. The other D (#2 or #4, can't remember) seemed a bit over his head, but remember, this was a big game and I think he is just a Jr.

GO CRETIN (Oh, I forgot we are out also)

Congrats to all the teams this year. See you all next year, same place, same time

Stillwaters defense was hands down the best in the conference. Next year will be the same. Goff and Corbett are great players, Goff just needs to calm down a bit. Sometimes I wish he would take the puck up a little more. The kid has great speed. As for Cates, he will be top two goaltenders in the State next year. Kid makes some great saves. Also watch out for forward Nick Anderson. He will be a junior next year and has some of the best hands I have seen. A natural play maker. Look for Stilly to run the conference next year.

Must be a weak conference if the team with the best defense gives up 60 shots to a team that didn't even make the State Tournament!

Oh yah that one team that didn't make the state tournament...That's the same team that beat Hill, AHA, Tonka, Maple Grove, and Moorehead right? The same one that plays in one of the hardest sections in Minnesota history? Is this the same team that beat Stillwater on a saturday after Stillwater previously played two games that week?

I think we are talking about the same team and they are one heck of a squad.

The Bears won't have much offense next year, but they do have their top 4 defensemen (RJ, Carney, Morrisette, Delaney) and Schletty returning next year. Should be a lot of low scoring games next year!

Both teams lose some core players going into next season...

How is this match up going to pan-out next season?
