Actually, the EP fans cringed when they announced refs from Apple Valley and Lakeville, these towns are bitter rivals and EP feels that they get jobbed more in those places than when we travel to Duluth or somewhere away. I was there, there were several no calls on both sides. My opinion was that Moorhead was allowed to slash and crash in the third with no penalty, so they kept it up. I did not see the replay on the disallowed goal, so I cannot comment. Congrats to the Spuds, but even with that goal and another penalty or two, not sure they would have prevailed.newSPUDfan wrote:Anyone else catch that the two refs are from the south metro?KodiakWint40 wrote:There getting robbed on most of the game! how could you miss that checking from behind behind their net?! what bs, and the disallowed goal, idk, it was close but I think it should've countedscarface wrote:So what does everybody think.....Did MH get robbed on the disallowed goal??
I'm not saying they are biased, but come on...... what would people say if one ref was from Fergus and the other was from Detroit Lakes?
And those towns are over 40 miles away from Moorhead!!!!!!

First off, congrats to Eden Prairie. Nice defensive effort on their part to keep the Spuds in check the whole game. It just seemed like after that goal was waved off, the Spuds couldn't forget about it and they lost what momentum they had up to that point. Eden Prairie just put the clamps on defensively after that.
As disappointed as I am that yet another chance for their 1st state championship has slipped through their fingers, I have to give the team tons of credit for getting as far as they did. Nobody expected them to be in the championship game this year, and I include myself in that group too. Disappointed? Sure. But still damn proud of the team.
Also, congrats to Trent Johnson for receiving the Herb Brooks award. Good job, Trent!

Me too. I know I am an EP fan and all but the one time they showed the replay at the game it looked to me in my honest opinion that a Moorhead player pushed Ford out of the way before the shot was taken into the hole where Ford used to be. I think the refs got it right.wbmd wrote:I doubt that.HAWKey wrote:moorhead would've won if it wasn't for that no goal call
EP two out of three.

Congrats to EP. Great team, great players, and great fans tonight too.
Moorhead had a shot, but they probably needed that called-off goal to have a chance. Once the call was reversed, the air went out of the sails for a while. EP was relentless through the first 1 and a half periods, and by the time Moorhead finally started generating a number of chances they had a nice cushion and plenty of confidence.
Some stars shine brightest one the biggest stages, and was that ever the case with Leddy tonight. The goal was amazing, and every time Moorhead started a rush up the ice, I checked to see if Leddy was back there...and if he was, I knew the Spuds had no chance. His positioning is impeccable. He gets my vote for Mr. Hockey.
Forgotten somewhat with the performances of Leddy and Rau was Andrew Ford, who was very solid tonight and throughout the tourney. If there's one thing the great Edina class was missing, it was a goalie. EP had one, and they got the title that eluded Edina.
They're going to miss Leddy and their collection of talented senior forwards, but EP's still in a strong position to repeat next year. They should be very fun to watch.
For the Spuds, 0-for-7 is tough to swallow, but they exceeded most everyone's expectations in getting this far, and I really enjoyed watching this team play. It's a pleasure to watch those first two lines go at it, and Logan Marks came up big as well. They represented the north well and reminded the Metro that us northerners are not to be taken lightly come tourney time.

I think Leddy is going to get mr hockey but Tardy is the Man. But if you choose to go to the U, you have an advantage
Sorry, Tardy and his buddies had to pack their bags and go home early.
To top it off, those refs were former Edina hockey players. I remembered their names. They are Ann Carol's brothers.mn man wrote:Actually, the EP fans cringed when they announced refs from Apple Valley and Lakeville, these towns are bitter rivals and EP feels that they get jobbed more in those places than when we travel to Duluth or somewhere away. congrats to EP on there first state title, Moorhead made a great run to get there it was an acomplishment in itself, great game cant wait tell next year
There is just one thing that bothered me, after the game was over and the high school league was presenting medals and tropheys Mooread showed no class in sitting on the ice I dont blame the kids it is tough for those seniors but coach Moranville needs to get them to stand up. It is a thing to win with class you also must be able to lose with class. I dont like saying it but I felt it had to be said

He's talking about the guys sitting on their breezers. And the Spuds did that after the Eagles did the same thing when Moorhead was getting their medals. Watch your own petty self.CitiesSpudsGuy wrote:How the hell is taking a knee on the ice showing disrespect? When the Eagles were getting their medals, each Spud skated over and shook hands with them, one by one. You're being incredibly petty.

No, you just gotta open your mouth when you really have no business doing it. I sure hope the rest of the people of Elk River are nothing like you. I'd hate to think there's an entire town so full of themselves, like you are.EREmpireStrikesBack wrote:Gotta correct you when you are wrong...CitiesSpudsGuy wrote:Mind your own damn business. Says the guy who was wrong. Could you be wrong again? I'd bet on it.
