I can almost guaranteed they are getting recruited pretty big time. So keep your comments to yourself buddy, there is no need for you to come and rip kids apart on a message board. They have amazing talent and hockey sense and are gonna go somewhere big. You are just jealous two kids smaller than you are twice as good as you or your kid. For you to come and talk on a message board like this and try and cut kids down shows you are insecure and pathetic. Maybe you should stop wasting your time on here, running your mouth, and maybe go work and get better. You obviously need all the help you can get if your cutting kids down. Get a life pal.

well said but the twins aren't superstars. Good but not great
I do know they have an older sister Shannon who last year got a D1 scholarship to Ohio State, she's now a sophomore.
I dont think that their dad owns a part Sioux Falls, I think he owns a part of Sioux City. BTW...they are both very talented players. There are three and the youngest may be the best.

First of all, your assumptions of who I am are completely wrong. I am neither a parent nor a player. I coach youth hockey and I played through high school, choose to play football in college, rather than go through juniors to try to make it in hockey. Look back at kids drafted by the USHL and tell me you think the Reillys are in that caliber. They aren't. Look at the elite league stats, they aren't scoring with the premier players. I just don't think they are very good and the utter lack of defense makes me want to puke.
If you are going to have a message board about hockey and can't talk about the skill level of a certain player, without being called a jealous jerk, it is rediculous. I have said nothing about them except that I don't think they are as good as advertised and I know they don't play defense.
scoreboard33, you dont know what your talking about. first of all they didnt both play with mattson last year. only one of the reillys did so you saying they both rely on mattson is just not accurate. also saying they dont play defense is also funny considering they are always on the pk and always on the ice in the final minutes of a period. but since you made it so far in hockey you would know everything your talking about. last thing when you say theyre not high caliber be like one made national 17's but thats considered not high caliber. then the other one had like 60 points has a soph but i guess thats also not high caliber. one has 12 and the other has 7 points in elite which is more than above average for the juniors in the league.

Neither was on the U17 roster, so I don't really know what your talking about. Also there are only 7 junior forwards with less than 7 points in elite league, sounds "more than above average." Also, being on penalty kill doesn't mean that you are a good defender and won't float when you are ful strength, i'm sure they are capable of playing defense, they just don't at full strength. Where did I say that I know a lot about hockey because I played for so long and a lot of people who made it not very far in hockey know a lot about the game. One of the winningiest hockey coaches at all levels of college hockey is John Gagliardi, he coached football and basketball in Montana before he took over the football and hockey jobs at St. Johns.
hockeyboys wrote:i keep seeing talk of the Riley's size - how big are they? These posts make them sound like they would have more sucess with midget bowling.
size hasn't seemed to hold back Ness or Schroeder - and we have heard about how small they are for years now. How do these guys compare?
the rileys are small, but they are not as small as some people make them out to be. as of right now i think that they are not fast enough and not strong enough on there skates to handle the strength of the ushl. they are both very talented and are probably far from being done growing. i think that with two more years of high school hockey and two more years of growth and strength training that the two rileys will be just fine in the league.

Back in the mid-fifties, he coached the St. John's hockey team for five years, compiling a 42-25-1 record... less games than in three modern seasons. I get your point, but let's not get carried away here!

USHL teams take more than talent into consideration when drafting. They also pick kids they think might actually play for them some day. Keep that in mind, and know that this isn't an accurate way to gauge how good the "experts" think these player are.
Although, FWIW, I believe the first five on this list all turned down the USNTDP.
Hmmmm... I did also hear that the Reilly twins dad is a part owner for Sioux Falls, I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I cant verify it but i have heard it from kids at sioux falls.

Surprise about Lapic on a couple of fronts. One, I am surprised that he had not been drafted before. Two, I believe he is going to Wisconsin. I would imagine that Wisconsin would want him to play at least one year of JRs. Why was he not drafted sooner?
He is playing for New Prague and is the Missota Conference. Farmington, Shakopee and so on. He needs to play a Lake Conferance schedule. Stat building in the Missota Conference is great, but compete with some tougher conferences he is probably an average player.

Lapic was drafted by Tri-City last year. He made the decision to stay home for his senior year and play with his brother. He also had a nagging injury that he got cleaned up early this summer and wasn't able to participate in any of Tri-City's camps... so they released his rights and Omaha snapped him up.
Lakeviewer - You are obviously either misinformed, misguided, or a taco short of a combo platter. Did you see Lapic at the 17 festival last spring? Don't you think Wisconsin sees something? He's made the national camp all three years. Elite league as a junior. Led his high school team in scoring as a freshman.
Average?? Seriously?
Don't sweat the small stuff.
It's all small stuff.
If you have never watched Tyler play, you have no business even commenting on his ability. Tyler is the real deal.
there are plenty of quality hockey players coming from the smaller schools - just ask the bulldogs.
Actually, it is not a small school/large school issue. These players are shaped and molded long before they become classified as single A / dbl AA players via their association (which is all one classification)
Lakeviewer - you might want to change your "view". Lapic is amazing and there have been others to come out of New Prague - Look at Seth Ambrose. He made the national team, is playing juniors as a SOPHOMORE and already has a verbal from the Gophers. If kids are talented, the scouts find them. You don't need to play in a tough conference to get noticed, although it certainly helps. The cream rises to the top in HS.

Didnt he already commit to wisconsin? that must mean he is ok ....despite the town he plays for.
breakout wrote:I didn't notice Lapic on the Elite League rosters. Was he hurt? Or, did I miss something?
Same thing that kept him from going to Tri-City camps kept him from 17 National Camp & Elite League. My sources tell me they think he'll be ready in time for the HS season that starts next Monday.
