Nostalgic Awards: an inferior version to the bobble (boblee) awards

Best Commentator: Lou Nanne - without him KSTC may as well fold. (It's a shame Wally Shaver is not around anymore as his play-by-play man.)

"A" Tournament:

Best saves: Lucas Johnson's (LDC) uppershelf save on Warroad's Bryce Ravndalen, or Willie Paul's (Marshall) stretch glove save from across the crease on Warroad.

Best jerseys: Little Falls - bold purple; LDC - beautiful lime green w/ white stripes; Blake - lime green w/ blue (though I think some of their helmets are purple)

Best D1 prospects: Hanowski, Little Falls; Ravndalen, Warroad; Nate Schmidt, Cathedral

Best celebration: Hanowski's salute to the cadets

Best name: Dan Jacques, Marshall

Biggest canon: Jacques, Marshall; Walter, STA

Best camera eye: Cadet crowd surfing

Most undervalued: Connor Rooney, STA; Zack Mausolf, Marshall; Stephen Rindelaub, Cathedral
HM: AJ Reid, STA

Most exciting game: STA/LF

Prettiest goal: Rooney-Vanelli-Walters, STA vs. LF
HM: Jordan Palusky's (Cathedral) wrap-around upper shelfer on Blake

Best goaltending: Willie Paul, Marshall vs. Warroad

Most elusive skater: Vannelli, STA (with the little bit I've seen him carrying the puck since he's D); Ravndalen, Warroad

Most creative makeup: Marshall kid w/ the black & yellow wig

"AA" Tournament:

Best saves: Phillippi's cross stretch on Lakeville South, or Cashetta's diving stick save on I believe Hill or was it Benilde?

Best jerseys: Woodbury - navy blue; Blaine - again that deep navy blue
HM: Hill-Murray's black & green, or Cathedral with the different blue & yellow going

Most elusive skater: David Eddy, Woodbury; Aaron Ness, Roseau

Biggest hit: Zach Frischman's (Blaine) thunderous hit that put Aaron Ness in the boards. Or everything by Leer.

Best makeup: kids with long wigs and black faces (best in either class)

Most exciting game: Edina/Benilde

Best goaltending: Flip vs. Edina

Biggest canon: Budish

Best name: Yumu

Prettiest goal: Actually going with Lou Metcalf's upper shelf redirection for Hill's third goal in the final.

Most undervalued: It's kind of hard to call Matt Berglund an "undervalued" player since he's the leading scorer on the Benilde team, but since he isn't even the center on the line, nor the tournaments highest profile name, nor the flashiest, suffice to say he gets my pick. Also maybe Roseau's Ben Nelson or Nick Oliver.

Best D1 prospects: Budish, Everson, Mike Lee, Berglund, Zierke, Ness (though I'm sure not all are going directly to D1)

Actually I took more time to understand my notes.

Here's some tourney stats, though somewhat meaningless:

Actually I thought 5'9 Ben Nelson's hit on 6'4 Dan Sova, was right up there too. Probably not legal, but a lot of guts none the less. 8)

So your best hits depend on if the person gets up slowly?

Great post.

I loved the Metcalf goal, too. He had the last goal of the regular season, too.

You left out the famous grab during the Metcalf goal celebration.

Loved the Furne goal with a fraction of a second left (actually loved everything he did... including dishing back to his buddy, Cecka, instead of burying the point blank after the victory already was sealed).

Loved the great backchecking Pioneers singing between periods.

Loved the leadership top to bottom.

Those uniforms are black (w/green) magic!
