I give Cloquet a lot of credit for hanging with them as long as they did. For a while there, they sure did give Edina a run for the money, but that big line of theirs is just too strong for Cloquet.

And Brown and Jokinen had to get hot today and that just hasn't happened. I saw a lot of standing around when those skates should have been moving, offensively and defensively. Sometimes, that's just the way the puck bounces I guess. But Edina showed they are the better big game team.

Is Brown #7? If so, he got walked a couple times this afternoon.

Does anyone know if Chapman from Edina is Wally's son? And is Hously friends with Wally? I wonder where a guy could find this information.

I know it was 5-0, but it seemed a little closer than that (for 2+ periods).

The Chapman kid is Wally's son. Decent player and nice kid. I don't think I'd say Wally and Housley are necesarily buddies but they did have kids on a team together in AAA for a bit. Why?

You must not have watched the game. I think Phil mentioned Wally, Wally's son, and his friendship with Wally about 3-4 times in the 3rd period. Nothing against Wally or his kid, of course. I guess you run out of things to talk about with 5 minutes left?

I found it interesting to watch Jokinen in the Section 7AA playoffs and today and I can't see why he is a Mr Hockey candidate. I know that those nominations are done long in advance of these games, but I just didn't see the intensity from him, nor the offesne/defense mind. I know UMD had looked at him, but don't know if he's got post plans yet or not. Anybody from the Northland faithful know?

What about Brown? He had a lot more jump and spark in the Section playoffs than he showed today, thats for sure, but then again - so did the rest of the Jackls team. Just prior to that third goal at the end of the second, it was like somebody on the bench filled their breezers with lead - because that's exactly what it looked like on the ice. It was a grinding hard working game prior to that point, but that thrid goal was a back breaker. And Edina had more in the tank in my opinion, even with the two lines, which Giles eventually scrambled up a bit in the third.

Cloquet shouldn't be ashamed at all, but they got outplayed, out muscled, and outskated. Plain, simple and fairly put. They gave a great effort against a good Edina team.

It was an odd game.

I felt Edina dominated the 1st and only had a 1-0 lead to show for it.

I thought Cloquet played even, if not a bit better (the PP was a big help for their play), yet Edina outscored them 2-0 in the period and was up by 3.

The 3rd was 100% controlled by Edina.

I think the SH goal by Budish took a lot of emotion out of Cloquet. Only down by 2, if they bag one there on the PP, they're right back in it, but give up a late period goal, short handed nonetheless.

After the 3rd goal, Edina put it into cruise control and was able to shift everyone, which will help them the next game and potentially on Saturday night.

Oh...I also don't think that Phil is necessarily creative in coming up with new things to say and, you're right, I didn't get to see this game.

Cloquet through heart and passion keeps it close in the first period. Aboult halfway through the second, Edina's size and depth starts taking its toll and they score 2 unanswered. The third period won't be pretty.

I can't see this happening. For one, Cloquet has solid depth. Secondly, they will not let this game take the same route as the game in January. Thirdly, Cloquet will hit the Edina players every chance they get. I have yet to pick a winner in this contest, leaning towards Edina which grates on my nerves, but one would think that Giles will not allow his team to lose focus after Rapids ambushed them last year.
What do you think now mnmouth?

What a LOSER I can't believe he mentioned that he was friends with someone on AIR. Didn't he have something better to talk about. Next you know he will say he's friends with Gretzky or something.

Nothing against Cloquet as they did beat MY team, however East would have given Edina a much better game Kind of the same score as earlier in year when Cloquet lost 5-1 while East lost 3-1 (en) Brown was lucky in the play offs and Jokinen has been overrated for along time. He made a name for himself last year playing with Tyler Johnson but without Tyler making him look good, he hasn't done anything. Should not have been a Mr. Hockey candidate period.
