tomASS,
No worries! Please quit confusing me with someone else. Your way off!

If both Chaska and Chanhassen offer leagues. I'm curious why you need an additional league? [-X Please quit trying to change the subject.
Just answer the question. Stay on the subject.

We both know there's some sort of advantage for the kids to play in the CC United. I know for a fact that there is a big price difference. Which tells me that your league must offer more.
Does anyone get paid money in your league?
Is it all volunteer? I would hate to think people would make money off of organizing soccer.
I'm sure all the teams are balanced. You wouldn't have a better team than others. Would you? After all these kids are all 7-8 years old.

You crack me up. Let me know if you want to get together sometime and kick the soccer ball around. That might be too silly for you. :-&

Excellent Idea Boogeyman- I would love to get together to kick the soccer ball around. I doubt you could keep up even with a former player who requires two new knees. Please make sure you wear a helmet. I would hate for you to fall again a hurt yourself. Seems habitual with you.

Pauly's has a backyard or you can also pick any location you would prefer. How about a soccer bar like Brit's downtown? They have a yard for lawn bowling on their roof. I will buy the beer it will be my treat.

We must get togther and take this off-line because you did not do the research regarding the organizational structure of soccer in this state. So each question you ask makes you appear more ignorant than before. I told you - do your research and then I will answer your questions. If I have to provide you with the information it needs to be done in person.

I'm not going to bore others with soccer talk and continue to make you look like a someone struggling to make a point that is not legitimate.

You failed to do your research. I doubt very much you would come and discuss this like an intelligent adult.

I mention this becasue you were offered the chance to discuss your concerns with the hockey board of the association you rail and ridicule. Funny, you failed to show up and act like an adult and discuss your concerns openly with them.

I will PM you. You can tell me where, what night and time you want to get together. I will even miss seeing one of my club's team play in the state championship game if that is the time frame you pick. I think it is extremely important that you finally get your facts straight and I am not going to use this forum for that purpose.

PM coming your way - I expect a meeting :D

Why do you keep refering to someone else? Do you think I was the coach that was injured? Now who has to do some research? I'll contact you with a private message.

I am not trying to pile on anyone with my comments, but tomASS you do seem to state that you are more informed about the development of kids then the rest of us. This may be true, I don't know. I was curious about the comments you made about soccer and the CC United league. In simply reviewing the United CC web site, they seem to divide the league into 2 divisions: (1) Competitive; and 2) Recreational. The "competitive" league has tryouts and has teams that travel to other cities and tournaments. The competitive league has boys and girls teams that are U9. These teams have members on them that are at least as young as 8. This means, according to the United CC web site, the kids who were 8 years old and playing this summer could have been 7 when they tried out for the competitive teams last Fall. (The United CC web site talks about kids trying out now for the teams next year). I am not clear on the ages for your district, which I believe is Chaska, but when my daughter went through the mite program in my district, 7 and 8 year olds still had one more year of mites. Mites generally play in 2nd and 3rd grades (upper level). I don't know of any hockey associations that have "traveling mite teams" or a "competitive" versus "recreational" division within the association. I understand that some hockey districts can divide the kids into upper or lower mites, and that some hockey districts simply have the kids play together (which I believe is the way Chaska does it at the mite level). I am making this comparision because you made the comparision that CC United is the same level as the Chaska Community Hockey Program in an earlier post. While it may be at the same organizational level, United CC offers varying competitive levels for kids 9 years old and younger that most hockey associations don't. Most mite level hockey associations don't have a "competitive" and "recreational" division. The competitive divisions also seem to run from February through July (5-6 month season).

You also state in the earlier post that "when it comes right down to it-small sided games, pick-up games, and players working on their own is the best development for any soccer player the ages we are talking about. Creating a love for the sport grows the desire. It does not take money and structure to accomplish that." I generally agree with these comments. However, United CC clearly has two divisions for kids that are mite age--a competitive division and a recreational division. The United CC web site requires the kids wanting to participate in the "competitive" league to try out. Again, the kids trying out for the U9 division can be/are the same ages as the children who played in mites. If your lesson, for children this age, is that they learn more from small-sided pick-up games, and players working on their own is true, why does United CC even offer a "competitive" division? You refer to it as "our club structure" so I am assuming you have knowledge concerning why United CC does this for children this age. If "the game is the teacher" for children this age, shouldn't the recreational league in soccer be enough? The recreational motto on the United CC web site resembles what you have stated in your previous posts. However, United CC also separates and/or offers other, more competitive options, for children that are the same ages as mites. Mites do not travel, nor do they play other teams from other cities, nor do they participate in weekend tournaments as the U9 competitive teams do in soccer. You say the development does not change between children playing soccer and children playing hockey, and that may be true. However, United CC seems to even be willing to divide children at this young age based on abilities. This is a program that you apparently support. If you believe that having a "competitive" and recreational" division, for kids this age as offered by the UCC United, is a bad idea, then I think your previous comments are consistent with your belief. If you believe that having a "competitive" and "recreational" division is a good idea for kids this age, then you should consider this before commenting on whether parents are making a good or bad decision when deciding whether a different mite program is good for the development of their child. I think this is just another example of organizations giving children other options to excel at a sport that they really like, enjoy, love, etc. . . at this age. Anyway, I think you make some good points about kids and learning to love their sport, but I think developing a kid's love for a game can be accomplished in different ways.

Conditionally - your are more than welcome to join me in person when I provide Boogeyman his informational session. I can answer all your questions then.

You ask good questions that deserve answers but I can assure you that
there is not the same comparison that is being discussed here. Good effort at least in researching before posting.

Please join me when Boogeyman lets me know when he wants to get together. I will PM you when he chooses a time and place.

Well we know you have no clue cause it is not a Minnesota rule it is a USA Hockey rule. It is nation wide. Get over it it's not changing!

Nope don't blame him - that was my call and I figured MN hockey had some say in the implementation. So much for a federalist governing body.

I stand corrected and apologize for my error.

You are both right, Mn Hockey passed the helmet in April 06, before it was recommended and in June of 06 USA Hockey made helmets for coaches mandatory. If it had failed at USA Hockey the rule would still be in place in Mn.

Manchester United sign nine-year-old YouTube wonder kid

By Simon Rabinovitch

LONDON, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Manchester United have signed a gifted nine-year-old after his grandfather sent the Premier League champions a DVD showcasing the boy's talents which has become a YouTube sensation.

Rhain Davis, who was born in England but has lived in Australia since the age of four, was hailed by the British press on Thursday as the next Wayne Rooney after the United striker.

The boy's dribbling and goalscoring prowess for an Under-10 side in Brisbane, Australia, feature in a four-minute YouTube clip, already viewed more than 800,000 times.

United confirmed the signing but played down the hype around Davis, who has moved back to Cheshire in northern England with his father, near the club's training ground.

"He's a member of our academy and we don't comment on individual members," a United spokesman told Reuters.

He added that the club sign about 40 players of Davis's age every year and, as is standard, will decide annually whether to renew his contract or release him.

What was so unusual in Davis's case was that his skills were brought to the attention of United's youth scouts by the DVD submission, which could inspire other hopefuls, the spokesman said.

"We're bracing ourselves for a whole series of DVDs," he added.

Davis has been thrilled at the chance to rub shoulders with some of his idols.

"The best part has been meeting lots of players like Wayne Rooney," he told British newspapers.

I funny, I was just sent the clip by a soccer friend.
I voted the following
1) Too soon to tell
2) He's too young to be recruited but it's ManU's money and gamble.

My first comment to my fellow coaches on the email was, although he is good for a 9 year old the other teams seem to be horrible in 1 v 1 defending. Being advanced at this age guarantees you nothing when you get older. Also they are playing on too large of field with too large of goals for kids this age.

I forget what contributor has said this numerous times here, but it is a marathon and not a sprint. Those are very wise words

M & M

Over a year ago, I heard (from a little bird) that the long-term vision is to ring the suburbs. Put M & M satellites in the NW, NE, and SE metro with the possiblity of schools in each one.

Build it and they will come? M & M's marketing is better than any association I've ever seen. Or better than any hockey organization or camp for that matter. Maybe a Public Stock Offering in the future?

Could this potentially be the start of a Revolution in the metro area?
I hope not. :(

Nobody liked the Walmarts when thet moved in but a lot of people shop there.

Afterthought: Anyone wonder why Snuggy jumped on board with M & M?
(My better-half thinks it's about the Denaro for him and marketing Snuggy's name and talent for M & M. Maybe I'm wrong but I view the two as philosophical polar opposites. Could be a good marriage.

Why worry about something that you have no control over? If MM is successful. So be it! If you don't believe in it. Then don't sign your kids up for it. Time WILL tell if MM develops kids long term. Or will they be three year wonders? I can tell you I don't like Wal-Mart so I shop at Target. The best thing about it? It's my choice and no one can tell me different.

Please do what's best for you and your family.
