I always find it interesting how the most recent game is a barometer for the entire season. After Greenway beat Virginia, they were considered a real threat to upset someone in the sectionals. After they get smoked by Rapids they will be sent into running time when they play Hibbing. Americans have ...

Earlier in the season I had hopes that Greenway would be more competitive. They played some good teams close. Lately, they have reverted to the same play that resulted in the worse team in Greenway hockey history. I know they lost Underwood to an injury, but their play in the Hibbing Tournament was ...

3AA is not as strong as it has been in recent years. They were easily the toughest section with Hill-Murray, White Bear Lake, Centennial, Roseville, and even Stillwater. This year's teams do not seem to measure up to past year performances. Section 6AA seems to be the one with the most depth, althou...

Good to see Greenway continue to improve. From what I've heard, Greenway has to stop taking so many penalties. Are these penalties because they are a step slow? Or are these dumb penalties? I won't get to see Greenway until the Hibbing Tournament so anyone have any thoughts on the kind of penalties ...

WBL goal
That was just an outstanding shot by the White Bear player.

Hibbing Game
Looks like Greenway played a solid game in their 5-2 loss to Hibbing at Hibbing. Shots were 28 to 20 for Hibbing. Hibbing's last goal was an empty netter. The score was 3-2 until late in the third period. This is a great sign that Greenway is not going to be a pushover this year.

If Greenway hockey is to survive, the coaches are going to have to become MAJOR players in the youth program. Starting with Grant Standbrook in 60's Gernander in the late 60's and 70's, and Guyer in the 90's, past Greenway coaches have known the importance of letting the youth hockey players how int...

Minnetonka 3 Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 1 CEC does not perform well outside of Section 7. If they win this game they will prove themselves to be among the top ten teams in the state. Their game next week against White Bear Lake will be another opportunity for them to prove themselves as a quality team out...

Greenway Hockey
Greenway won't be at the short end of running time very often this year. By tournament time they should be a real threat to upset one of the big threee (Hibbing, Hermantown, Virginia). The program is in deep trouble with no bantam team. The survival of the school itself is a major topic of conversat...

Most Memorable Goal
Now that the season is just starting, I was wondering what everyone's most memorable goal in the state tourney is. For Greenway fans I think these goals were the most exciting: 1. Gino Guyers OT goal against Eden Prairie. 2. Ken Gernanders' solo goal against Kennedy (1987). 3. Ken (or Gary?) Lawson'...

Greenway
After falling to the lowest point in Greenway hockey history, things will get a little better this year. Greenway' underclassmen have some talent and more importantly are good kids and good athletes. Greenway's coaches will help get the most out of these kids. Look for Greenway to win a game or two ...
