In an effort to both contribute constructively and perhaps quell some of the heated discussions regarding Section 3AA with some cool and calm discussion, I have compiled the following information. "Top Teams" Refers to the top 15 plus the bubble teams listed in the most recent update of Ka...

Section 4 is stacked. Three Mr. Hockey nominees and the two Brimsek nominees. Hard to identify a single weakness on this squad.

A change in kids' attitudes about celebrations won't occur from the bottom up, especially when you have clowns like Yakupov, Ovechkin, and others doing the same thing. I vote let them celebrate. That way you can even better differentiate between players' attitudes. Edit: And some of them are pretty ...

Surprised to see that Zevnik didn't make the Strib/Hub all-metro teams (though he did make Pioneer Press). Nice to see both Moran and Munson get some recognition for their accomplishments this season as well though.

Fun comic book-like previews from the Hub this year.

The most important storyline to follow as we enter this game will the impact that Pope Benedict XVI's resignation will have on Hill-Murray. The last time that Hill-Murray played a hockey game without an acting Pope was...never! Hill-Murray has never played a hockey game with a vacant Papacy. In fact...

Hill needs to do a better job in the defensive zone. Stillwater only had 15 shots, but they had lots of quality chances, hitting pipes and shooting wide on others. If Hill's goalie hadn't made some of those saves on the breakaway and odd-man chances, and Stillwater had capitalized, the game could ha...

One of the most compelling story lines in this section appears to be a depth of goaltenders. Eagan's Lindgren, Cretin's Jancze, and Eastview's Driscoll appear to have had very good regular seasons and ostensibly good stats. Will one of these goalies get hot? It is not out of the realm of possibility...

We are way past the days of Olimb, Zmolek, Bonin, and even Ness never leaving the ice. Except for this, the rest of your post was sound. I certainly think Jake Jackson from Tartan should be among the nominees. A very good player. Flies under the radar because of the team he's on, but I am sure anyone else can attest to his skill.

Penalizing celebrations, showboating, and the like is a silly idea. You can't legislate class into people. 'Class' is a manner of acting and playing that has to originate on a personal level. You can't force it with rules. If you force everyone into 'classy' celebrations, you dis-enable the ability ...

But conversely, what kind of message does it send to the team/players if you don't take action in a situation like this? Historically, Lechner has shown that he is willing to make tough choices, despite the potential sacrifice on the scoreboard. There were plenty of other things to worry about in Hi...

You would be hard pressed to find another school the size of Hemantown in the state that is fielding youth teams (Bantam & PeeWee) at AA, A, & B levels. Doesn't seem to me that they are backing away from competition. The talent in these smaller towns waxes & wanes year to year (as oppos...
