WCHA Championship

Post by benc14 »

Its The U of Minnesota vs. The U of North Dakota for the automatic bid in the NCAA tournament and the 2004 WCHA Final Five Championship. I can bet that will be a rough and chippy game for both teams. I can bet that the Souix-idge will be a bunch of Hacks trying to hook and slach the gophers all game long, but i bet the gophs do a little of that too.

Go Gophers

Golden Gophers!

Post by bucksony »

This WCHA championship game should be a 'barnburner' of a game. Lets hope it is not decided on only the 'chippy and grab' game. It really appears that Minnesota is peeking at the right time and hopefully they will prevail in this big one. They certainly improved their play last night against Duluth in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Yes I agree, "Go Gophers!! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Go Gophers

I agree with the "chippy and grab" game. There is way too much of that allowed by the refs/coaches, and frankly I find it unexciting and boring hockey to watch. It doesn't take a lot skill for someone to hold or interfere with play. I hope this game gives us a fast and furious, clean and exciting game of hockey.

Score

UND leads 3-2 now, Zach just scored the go ahead goal in the game. UND started slow and now looks like is going to steam roll the Gophers.

WCHA Championship

Gophers are WCHA Champions for two years in a row now with a score of 5-4 over UND. Wow! This was a really fun game to watch and I am so glad that the Gophs pulled it out. Ballard is a phenomenal player and adds alot to the team. Taylor was really impressive tonight and I was impressed with the effort he put forth to help the Gophs kill of the 6 on 4.

Any team giving up 4 goals a game is bound to be beaten, there are way to many goalies better than Brandt. Briggs had better shape up or it will be a quick tournamnet for the golden rodents. Yes it was an entertaining game, but the Gophers give way to any good scoring chances. Scary considering Montoya is lurking out there.

Briggs

Post by Jesrober »

I thought the gophers had no chance this year after weber left, but Briggs has really stepped his game up. He has been letting in 4 goals a game but they were quality opponents but he definetly needs to step it up now more than ever. Does anyone know the story of why weber left? He was a great goaltender.

Briggs

Post by Finn70 »

The last two teams the Gophers have played are the two highest scoring teams in the country (Dakota #1, UMD #2 and the Gophers ranked #3 in goals per game) so its not as if Briggs gave up 4 goals to two inept teams. Those are probably the best offensive teams the Goophers will face and yet they outscored them 12-8 this weekend.

His brother does have cancer but it is in remission and that is not the reason he left. The reason was that he was burned out on hockey in general. He did not want to play any longer. I have inside source from his brother the one with cancer.

It's obvious Lucia is a master at having his team peak at the right time.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
