Section 8???

Post by EREmpireStrikesBack »

I thought they were supposed to "Dominate A & AA, Fact of Modern Life." Warroad says goodbye to A championship in the 1st round and Moorhead at least makes a good showing by beating ER in OT and East before losing to Centennial in the Final.

Where was the "dominance"? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/grin.gif ALT=" >D">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Overall, Section 8 representation in the state tournament was the best in the state tournament, whether either class won or not (which they didn't<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> )

Sections 7

The supposed weak section 7 did alright this year. Two third place trophies are not to bad. They both beat some good metro teams in their respective games.

Sections 7 and 8 represented the great white north well, going 8-4 in the tournament. I think that Section 5 represented itself well, but are sections 5A and AA relatively contiguous? I dont know where any of those private schools actually are(they might not even be in minnesota for all i know) (just kidding, please dont rip me for 8 threads).

The minneapolis schools win two titles, but everyone who said that the northern schools couldnt compete this year was a little wrong. I heard section 7 was weak, but they beat good Lakeville and Wayzata teams. Moorhead took down Elk River, and pushed Centennial right to the limit. I think these teams proved they deserved to be there.

The deepest sections were probably 3AA (Hill, WBL and Cent) and 5A(so many good teams) although 6AA and 8A had claims to those titles with their many good teams. But overall, its hard to pair the like-numbered sections, cuz sections like 4AA and 4A dont really represent the same area. Its like saying that Minnesota and Massachusetts should be grouped as the best two state region because they both start with M.

Anyways, my $.02 and some extra pocket change.
