As much as I hate Holy Angels...I would have to say that Trebil is the best coach in high school hockey in my opinion...another good coach is Jeffersons Linquist, hes doing a great job so far on filling saterdalens shoes.<br> <p></p><i></i>

The Best Coach in High School hockey is Cloquet's Dave Esse. Year in and year out he has good teams no matter what kind of talent his players have. <p></p><i></i>

I agree with Dangle, CEC's Coach Dave Esse only cuts about 3-5 players a year. To only cut so few players and be a good team tells me that all of the kids on that team are very well disciplined and very very hard working. If you want to see just come watch a game......ANY. <p></p><i></i>

John Humphrey won AA coach of year last year if im correct.. he has done wonders in turning the Tartan program around from when it was under Foley ect. along with Steve Romanchuck and Jim McCalmry (or w.e somthin like that) those are 3 coaches with ALOT of combined experience. <p></p><i></i>

How about a current or former player perspective on this topic? What coach out there is best at developing kid's on - and off ice character? Let's face it - the majority of the states players aren't going to play in college or the NHL - which coaches are using hockey to teach life skills? <p></p><i></i>

whether you recruit or not... you still have to be a good coach to win... just because your roster is loaded doesnt mean you will always win it... it takes a good coach to mesh all that together... thats my two cents about the recruiting.. my vote for best coach goes to Morinville... no titles but they will come... everytime I talk to him, his appreciation and understanding for the game never ceases to amaze me... its amazing to me how focused he is on hockey despite his demanding job away from the ice.. great guy and a real competitor.... <p></p><i></i>

Just wondering if anyone oout there can tell me anything about the coaches in Rochester? My kid will be going to the highchool level soon and wondering if anyone thinks there is anyone better then the others in Rochester. He is in first year Bantam A's now. Maybe GOLDY has an opinion or anyone else from the area. We have been to alot of Varsity games this year. teach life skills?...prepare them for the real world?...realize their potential in life?<br><br>These are huge tasks. Can they really be accomplished in two hours a day over a 16 week hockey season? If a coach can teach a little about hockey to his players, motivate them to perform with maximun effort at all times on the ice, provide consistent discipline to all players, and be a good citizen off the ice, isn't that enough?<br><br>We don't blame coaches for players lack of life skill, failures in the real world, or for not reaching their potential; so should they really be given credit for their players' accomplishments in life? Any responsibility for the players themselves, or their parents?<br><br>These are all nice thoughts, but really, they are ONLY hockey coaches. The coaches get(and some take) too much credit when the players win, and get to much blame when players lose. <p></p><i></i>

I agree with what you said and I think that was more or less what Tony was trying to say. I know they used to have study times/tape review at his house and other things such as that. Disagree with Aus. A good coach, but let's not forget he has been at Centennial for many years and although his teams always competed well in their conference, they'd fall early to the likes of Irondale and Mounds View. Centennial youth program is great, and the HS has become massive. Giving Aus some credit is accurate but I wouldn't mention him with the others listed. <p></p><i></i>
