Sounds like a done deal that Tony Couture is currently coaching his last season at Little Falls.

Thanks - we'll wait for an official announcement once the season has concluded.

Park? I hope you are referring to Spring Lake Park.

An abysmal couple of seasons under a guy who claims to have torn up the Australian league
I thought I misheard, thinking it was an Austrian league. Nope, it was Australia.

This program is in need of tons of work.
There is no continuity between the youth and high school programs.
The staff has outsourced their STP program for two years to a 3rd party provider so the coaches (staff of ten) don't have to do it.

Grasping at straws the team had 8 captains this season - home captains, away captains, 10th, 11th & 12th graders. 1 of 2 seniors that wasn't a captain was told by the coach that the reason he wasn't a captain was because he played better if he was "pissed off".
I guess that's a thing these days, huh?

Last years banquet was held during the section playoffs. This year's will be a zoom meeting for players only.

I've heard rumors of a Co-Op with the likes of Coon Rapids. Hey, that sounds like a good idea, not...
If they take Coon Rapids off the schedule then who will they beat? That's a third of their wins over the past 2 years.

It's weird that former long-time coach and district PE teacher Tom Benson hasn't got another opportunity even when interested.

Huh, that one is rather surprising. Obviously Cathedral had a down season, but Brown did a great job there over the previous several years, and before that at Luverne. He’s still a young guy in his mid-30s, so I’m curious where he might pop up next.

Updated a few. More should come in the next 3-4 weeks now that the season is done. On average last 5-6 years - we typically are around 20ish.

Not a head coaching opening, but heard that one of the Rapids assistants was let go by the school administration the day after the Andover game for actions that occurred after the game. Anyone from Rapids that can confirm this? I had originally heard it was just a Rapids parent involved.

Hearing multiple things on the Virginia coaching position, but the Hermantown Covid issue may have sealed the deal. Eveleth had to quarantine as well from the game on that Saturday and there are questions on how much the Virginia coaching staff knew and when they knew it. Obviously, the player in question knew he was either sick when he played against Eveleth or the day or two after, so why was he playing against Hermantown. Not sure how much stock I put into it, but the latest rumor is that it was payback for Kilen leaving Virginia to go to Hermantown last year.

Also have heard that Rock Ridge (Virginia/Eveleth) school district is looking into combining the remaining "separated" sports this fall due to budgetary issues.

And this is exactly how rumors start and flourish....why put this out there if you don't really know? You're literally dragging the integrity of the Virginia program and staff through the mud because a kid tested positive after he played some games? That's complete BS and you know it. Don't we know how Covid works by now? You could have it and not know, symptoms can come on rather quick, most people don't get tested until they feel crappy enough to do so. So, it's very possible that the Virginia kid felt well enough to play and who knows if he even communicated with his coaches. Lots of scenarios to look through. To those who think Virginia would do something like that because of the Kilen situation is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Quit posting what you don't know and ruining the integrity and reputation of a good program.

That's an interesting one. For a while it looked like he might turn them into HIll-Murray West, but they never quite got over the hump. Will be fascinating to see where the program goes from here.

A little different coming out of section 2AA then 4AA I’m sure might have played a factor. Had many teams in the Top 10-15 year in and year out. Congrats on his tenure there! Will be interesting to see how that program continues. We all know how fast Holy Angels went downhill after Trebil left. Hope that doesn’t happen at HF. Good luck to the next coach.

I've thought the same thing. He had some very good teams. So weird they never reached the tournament even once. I think the final PS2 rank one year was 3rd.
Be kind. Rewind.

Spring Lake Park can now be officially added,

“With the recent resignation of Coach DeBoer, the details surrounding summer training are...”

Interesting that with realignment 5AA has 9 teams but if Coon Rapids and Spring Lake Park did Co-Op no additional movement of teams (outside preposed 5AA) would be required to move forward.
