Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
It may have been posted prior to me but it is a combo platter of not so great in JR land.
1. I believe that due to storms 2 USHL teams not playing this season. The Madison Caps are due to Covid and the Waterloo team had their rink destroyed by storms. Both rosters have moved somewhere else which then pushes players down the ranks.
2. Some teams have college players that are taking a gap year that returned or are able to play. That pushes players down too.
3. With uncertainty of HS season you also have kids leaving early fighting for spots.
Yuk...more covid pain for all. Sucks...

Bismarck
Jon Bell
Chase Beacom
Magicians
Lleyton Roed
Wilderness
Christian Galatz
Joey Pierce (before & after?)
New Jersey
Louden Hogg
St. Cloud
Noah Griswold
Again, lower than I expected. As InThePipes said, there is a definite “push down” effect this season. I noticed a lot of 2000 birthdates on the rosters, including a number of D1 commits. Things are tough out there in the junior landscape.
Stang - two more to add:
Wilderness
Hayden Kruse
Magicians:
Noah Tussey
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
It's actually Cedar Rapids, not Waterloo - but yes. And - 4 NAHL teams aren't playing this year - so additional push down. Total of 6 USHL/NAHL teams. And there are some WHL guys floating around in the leagues.massalsa wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 11:12 pm It may have been posted prior to me but it is a combo platter of not so great in JR land.

Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
Yeah , Clay Hanus is at the Magicians
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
Thanks, I whiffed on those two. I believe the spelling on the Wilderness roster is incorrect and it is actually Haden Kruse, which threw me off since there is some other kid from South Dakota named Hayden Kruse. That makes more sense. For some reason I thought Tussey had graduated, since it seems like he was at Stillwater forever, and he is a June 02 birthday.BP wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 10:00 amStang5280 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 6:37 pm NAHL early departures

Good catch Pipes!
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
I heard Hanus is no longer with the Magicians.
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
As I understand it, the WHL granted temporary releases to players, and they are expected to return to their teams in mid-December.

Apparently USA Hockey did not provide necessary approvals for his and others?

Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
This may have been discussed and I know he's committed for football now, but why isn't Ratzlaff at least playing his senior year of hockey? Just to not get hurt for football? Is he still at Rosemount?
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
Many incoming freshman for football enroll early in the spring to get a jump on things by going through spring practice and summer conditioning. I am guessing that is the case for him.TheNightman wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 2:25 pmThis may have been discussed and I know he's committed for football now, but why isn't Ratzlaff at least playing his senior year of hockey? Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
Anyone know about Mario Gasparini? Playing for Sioux Falls in the USHL and didn't play Elite League.
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
Heard he is back, 6 games and 0 points....
Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
I stand corrected... Ratzlaff is still at Rosemount, but required shoulder surgery after football season.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 2:38 pmMany incoming freshman for football enroll early in the spring to get a jump on things by going through spring practice and summer conditioning.
