Wow, something non-COVID related to dig through!
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
A few initial observations:
8 sophomores . Looks about right. Only 1 other came to my mind not there . Will be very exciting to see Shaugabay at New Hope
Goalies look about right . Affiliation on one of them likely to change
Miller and Ratzlaff not there . They have option no matter what unfolds
Deast and CEC 1 each. What a change from a few seasons ago .
Was hoping Schimek and Kurth might crossover this year to challenge for A title. Still possible I suppose ,but but not on list . Lots options depending how things unfold .

And as a lot of speculation pointed to, Fechko is in EdinaWestMetro wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:54 pm A few initial observations:

Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
Going to assume a lot of the big name players are waiting to see what happens with schools and falls sports. If any doubt of a regular Hs season will probably leave and head to juniors.
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
For sophomores, I was surprised not to see Oliver Moore from TG. Also, I am biased, but Caden Morgan of Breck is one of the best young D-men in the state.

Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
I think most of the sophomores are older sophomores that would have been 16s this past spring.

Thanks (and also to Slapper Al), that makes sense.InThePipes wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 2:21 pmMy guess is Moore is probably pursuing other options by choice this fall, he's still 15U eligible.
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
Interesting to see the Lake conference goalie listed as his current school and not the school he has been reported to be training with.
Meanwhile, a skater from a Section 2 school is listed as a Lake Conference, Section 6 school.

Peart had planned on playing for Fargo of the USHL this fall.InThePipes wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:27 pm
A few others are Blake, Middelstadt, Peart, Liffrig
Rumors swirling about Hogg's upcoming season destination
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
Yes Hayes is listed as Hopkins even though he has been confirmed to EP, and Fechko is listed at Edina now.
Why all the vagueness, just say it for what it is.

Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
Could be this comes from the registration paperwork, which for most occurs back in February/March. So I'm not sure if it's deceitful or if the player's family filled it out based on what they knew at that time? I'm not sure the HSEL coaches or admin would really be that concerned about who the player listed as their school affiliation?

The league is almost all good. No question about it. But man, they could help themselves avoid a lot of questioning of their credibility by paying just a little bit of attention to the insider moves the coaches make. It’s a great league. The spots are precious. It’s unfortunate they don’t always look at it that way themselves.

The spots are precious. It's too bad the girls' elite league is not run anywhere close to the boys' version.

I think another way to elevate the product is to not have "guaranteed" spots the following years once you make the team. Lot of kids who peaked as sophomores or juniors keeping spots from well deserving seniors who have developed later on. Coaches could put in a "protected list" of the top 5 or 6 returning players and make everyone else tryout again. Never understood the reasoning behind having the guaranteed spot once you made the team.
As stated above, still a great league
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
How many of the BSM players were with the school last season?

Add Galatz to this list of key missing names
Re: 2020 Elite League rosters
This might belong in early departures and not gospel but heard Galatz was playing for the Wilderness this year. Not sure if it'd be before and after HS season or all year.
