I know there is one currently scheduled for July 17, 18 & 19 in Edina (JV and Varsity) and one in Duluth July 25 & 26 (Varsity only).

Not sure how the next phase July 1 will affect the planned Braemar Festival, or whether spectators will be permitted as usual . Would appreciate if someone with more knowledge of the rules could comment

But if spectators are allowed , the Edina Mayor with support of city Council will in all likelihood have passed a citywide “wear a mask indoor“ rule by then. Unless there is an exception for indoor athletic spectators , versus people working or entering Edina offices or going to shopping malls for example .They just had a meeting today , With next step to draft the specific language.

Masks would be a small price to pay to watch hockey again!

The MDH isn’t allowing indoor competitions until at least July 29th. The MSHSL is following that guidance/edict. I doubt any school will go Townball on the MSHSL.

My understanding is the Braemar scrimmages are a full go (and some scrimmages will be played at SLP as was mentioned above).

Not saying you’re necessarily wrong, but can you provide a link to this info? Just last week the MDH said July 1st for indoor competitions, and the MSHSL ok’d it. Did they change their minds?

Has anyone heard of any programs having to shut down STP for Covid related issues? I'd be interested to know if the current guidelines that the Governor and some cities have in place are working...

There's confusion because the Minnesota Department of Health (the fine academic institution that it is ) cannot even use the proper verbiage. It says that on July 1 teams may begin "Inter-team practices and scrimmages" for indoor activities. It goes on to recommend to "Consider expanding to teams beyond your local community" beginning on July 29. Reading between the lines it's quite apparent that they meant Intra-team rather than Inter-team scrimmages to begin on July 1. Intra means within a team while Inter means between teams. Perhaps they'll clarify.

It is fairly vague but I interpret it that hockey games can be played between different teams in your "local community" starting July 15th. "Local community" is certainly up for interpretation... can EP play Edina? Can Minnetonka play Stillwater? I think so in both of those cases as I think the intent is to minimize travel - meaning overnight stays - until late July.

https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases ... sguide.pdf
Even though this guidance permits resuming games, scrimmages, and practices per the dates outlined
above, the MDH still recommends a phased-in approach for the re-opening of sports. This is especially
important for sports that haven’t been able to have games up to this point. MDH recommends the
following strategy and example as a way to phase into competition:
  • Starting on June 24, {my edit here - July 1 for indoor sports} begin with inter-team scrimmages as part of practice.
  • Two weeks later, focus on playing teams in your local community, local club, or local organization.
  • After another two weeks, consider expanding to teams beyond your local community, but consider
COVID-19 case activity level and risk in those communities when making travel decisions.

The MSHSL follows the same guidelines:

I know Duluth East is planning on heading to the Edina Summerfest July 17-18-19. Sounds like Varsity teams will play at St. Louis Park and JV at Edina.

Yes, this event is next weekend. I've seen a schedule but didn't post because I don't know if it is final and ready to be released. Blake, Wayzata, the Lakevilles, Cloquet, Maple Grove, and more. Should be a fun fix for those missing hockey.
Be kind. Rewind.

If anyone has a schedule for this, I would appreciate seeing it.

I also have to plead ignorance: Will fans be allowed to attend?
