7AA FINALS

Post by jdh »

Elk River vs Andover teams going all the way to Duluth for the finals. Unbelievable! Reminds me of the times when Bemidji would play Roseau in St Cloud, or when Roseau was still Single A and they played Warroad in East Grand Forks.

While the odd mix for north and south sections exist with the A/AA split. Gives forum users material for the week other than that I don't think it matters to the kids to be honest. Both teams are pumped to play in the section 7AA final and would drive to Roseau Memorial to get it on.

Playing the 7AA Final at Amsoil will be just fine & it’s an even playing field...one team & their fans needs to travel 150 miles & the other team 160 miles. For TC folks & students, would have been unique to play it at Forgerty (this one time) but what the hell😊. Both teams will be pumped in their attempt at representing 7AA at AA State Xcel 🤠And frankly, representing 7AA is overdue for both teams. Good Luck to both, may the best team win!

First time in the history of Region/Section 7 that two 'southern' teams are playing for the opportunity to go to State. Perhaps unbelievable that with the changing demographics and declining school enrollments in NE Minnesota since 1980, and especially since the mid-90s, that Range/Duluth area teams have held off the inevitable north-Metro charge.

Sad day for Section 7 purists . . .

Talked to an ER parent who brought up a good point (why ER preferred to play the final at Amsoil). The TV timeouts☝️...ER isn’t as deep of a team, so the TV timeouts will likely be helpful & if the game was played at a Twin Cities venue, WDIO may not have televised the game.

I don’t know, man. Sounds like a good idea in theory, but haven’t they learned that the Elks cant win in that building? Neither science nor the hockey Gods will let it happen. I would take my chances in Blaine if I were them...

Blaine was never an option. The 5A section championship is scheduled at Fogerty on Thursday

I think it’s good for hockey in 7AA actually. Elk, Flake and Andover have payed their dues in the post season over the years and deserve this years set up.

I would like the section to remain the way it is.
