Duluth East hosts CEC in Duluth tonight. Winner will host the 4/5 game? Winner possible 2 or 3 seed?

3,4,5 in question. 1,2 look pretty solidified..

Is East a deserved #6 seed now? The only section win they have was against Marshall. Don't see them beating Cloquet on Monday. They're bringing pea shooters to 7AA gun fights

Grand Rapids with a big win against Wayzata should almost lock the two seed.

I would think so too.

The shot counter heavily favored Wayzata but scoring chances favored Rapids, especially capitalizing on those chances: scored on a breakaway, scored after winning a puck race in wayzatas end while they were on a pp, scored on an odd man rush. I like how Rapids is playing, defense first approach and capitalize on chances. Clafton continues to be solid in net.

This is the exact formula that can derail Andover, but Wayzata brings nowhere near the offensive pressure that Andover can, so I still think it's highly unlikely barring a heroic effort from Clafton and a handful of fortunate bounces going GR's direction.

The lowest I could find was a #5 seed in 1993

If that happens I would think it would setup the most intriguing 3 vs 6 quarterfinal in a long time.

And you might prefer to be a #6 seed over a #5 seed, avoiding Andover in the semis

Interesting. And thusly setting up another game. Duluth East at Cloquet or at Grand Rapids. Elk is 20 points below East in QRF though.

QRF makes no sense at all.... East losses to ER 5-0 yet goes up 4.8 point in QRF and is ahead of Jacks, whom actually have a winning record @ 12-9-1 vs East 7-10-1, in addition didn't Jacks beat Hounds in first match up? CRAZY.....

For sake of comparison, here is how PageStat would have things. I left in all of the data to show how close the 4, 5, and 6 seeds would be.

# Team Section W L T PCT GF GA Rating
1 ANDOVER 7AA 18 3 1 0.841 118 30 22.46
25 GRAND RAPIDS 7AA 12 7 1 0.625 60 39 19.64
32 CLOQUET 7AA 12 9 1 0.568 89 56 19.11
40 DULUTH EAST 7AA 7 10 1 0.417 46 62 18.08
44 ELK RIVER 7AA 8 14 0 0.364 80 73 17.73
46 FOREST LAKE 7AA 12 6 3 0.643 62 51 17.67
108 ANOKA 7AA 3 16 1 0.175 32 94 13.6

CEC gets trucked tonite.

It doesn't matter with PS2 thinks. QRF is the stat that matters and as of Feb 3rd:

FL is 3
DE is 4
CEC is 5

Looking like a DE vs. CEC QF matchup.....

DE was already at 4 on the QRF before the cloquet win, after tonight do they have any possibility for 3? Depends on how much QRF is valued and how much head to head is. They have certainly played the better then CEC and Flake outside 7AA...

It’s gonna be tough unless they can somehow run the table and pass Flake by 6ish points in QRF ranking

My purple have White Bear Lake and Rapids. I’m going to assume we lose them both. Not because I’m an Ahole, but because it’s easier for my nerves right now. And going to Duluth for the quarterfinals. 7AA playoffs are so difficult. We’ve never had much success. Since I’ve been around anyway. Langenbrunner’s come to Cloquet. Then they leave. I love my team. It’s just so difficult to compete year in and year out in this section. Congrads, Duluth East, on the win tonight. Very, very impressive.

Knivy- agreed those will be two tough games as both teams have really good goaltenders. Them being home games help cec. I noticed last night seems like Walters is having some trouble with 7. Didn’t play as much as I’ve seen in the past and took a really bad penalty in the 3rd. Also wondering why he didn’t start Carlson?

Coach Walters has been rotating goalies all year. Walters and Galatz are fine. It was a bad loss. It seems nobody is immune to bad losses this year.

Cloquet currently is within the tie breaker points of DEast…
so the tiebreaker system will give
CEC the 4th spot and DEast the 5

Looks like both tendies played last night. You're right, nobody is immune.

For now. We have 2 games left in the last 8 days of the season. And East has 5 games in 8 days. A lot can change between now and then.
