Class "A" number 8 could be a bit higher, but maybe I am a homer. That's ok, coming in under the radar.

1. Edina
2. Duluth East
3. Moorhead
4. Holy Family
5. Eden Prairie
6. Minnetonka
7. Hill-Murray
8. St. Thomas Academy
9. Maple Grove
10. Elk River

"Others receiving votes": Wayzata, White Bear Lake, Cloquet, Centennial, and St. Michael-Albertville

I see the top 10 as two distinct tiers with teams 1-4 as your favorites, and the difference between teams 5-10 as small and interchangeable.

Moorhead: Solid D and very good depth.
STAA: Fairly deep and some very smart players
DE: Might have the most cohesive top line
Edina: Oozing with talent. But see them competing amongst themselves..

Taters over STAA in the title game

STA has to win a big game in AA before I believe in them.

It should be Moorhead's title to lose they may be the deepest team in the state and they are coming out of the weakest section.

Edina
DE
MHead
St Thomas
Centennial
Tonka
Wayzata
H Murray
Elk River
EP

Edina on paper looks tough. Edina in Elite League Looks Tougher. Edina in the nets (if they get good goal tending not great I don't see anyone touching them)

WM: Really don't know. He didn't play last weekend at Janesville when they were in his backyard playing in Richfield. So maybe he will be back. I hope so. My guess is he won't be back. GB

Randolph seems to have Edina's number, and he has the personnel this year. That would be a State Final for the ages if we're lucky enough to have it happen.

WM, with all the high school early commits to UNO--Staum, Dornbach and Anderson a few years ago. New coach came in and Staum and Dornbach no longer going there. I don't know about Anderson's future there and how that may drive his decision on where he plays this year. I think a lot of conversations and opinions bombarding the kid the past six months. I hope the final decision is his and not a college coach or parent. GB

Jeffy, the real question is what of the top three Edina, MHead and DE won't even make it to state this year? We all know from the past years that top three teams don't make it to the show. So the question is which one won't make it state. I'm going with DE not making it. GB

Agree , of those three, 7AA has the most upset potential

Fair point, we all know anything can happen, but there is no rule anywhere that says the top 3 can't make it. I would have a hard time betting against East and Randolph either way though. It was only a few years ago that he took an average team to the State Final. This team is much better than average. No question Elk and Cloquet will be tough outs though. Really looking forward to watching 7AA this year.

According to here, http://followthepuck.com/index.php/minn ... -rankings/

....six 7AA teams in the pre-season top 20. Yea - this section will be an absolute scream this year.

I think I'd prefer to let the season play out before declaring any matchup to be "a State Final for the ages".

Unless, of course two of those top 3 are in the same section.

Oh come on, what fun would that be? :D

The posts were referring to this year's Pre-Season top 3. All in different sections.

What I like about that FTP Class A list is there is a team at the top, and a team from 7A near the top, that is not Hermantown. Change is good.

Hermantown has been ranked # 1 since 2006-2007. It must be a record for consecutive weeks ranked #1 in any sport.
