WBL/CLOQUET

Post by Grizz 07 »

idk what Cloquet is ranked but this seems like it should be a descent matchup. Cloquet had 1-maybe 2 kids in the Elite league (Johnson). wb had 3 players and 2 goalies. Hansen, grun, kleidon, faust and hartzell. How should this game be.

Ellingson is an animal in net from what i have heard, i think wbl will come out flying, pepper ellingson with shots and full of anger after tuesday nights loss. They should be firing on all cylinders and should hopefully come out with a win my guess 4-1 wbl, with lopsided shots in wbl's favor because ellingson is amazing.
The curse lives on.....

wbl didn't look that great on FSN from what I saw. I am guessing they will still beat cloquet though. it will be a fun one to watch for a marker, my guess 5-3wbl.

if faust only let in 1 goal from hill, i dont think he will let in 3 from cloquet. Cloquet will score 2 or less goals, and wbl will score 4 or more. Answers about my rink niceness question....
The curse lives on.....

WBL-Cloquet

Post by boblee »

I think WBL will handle CEC fairly easily. Ellingson has been nowhere near as good as he was last year and CEC has much weaker defenseman and much less depth than last year and than WBL. WBL 4, CEC 0

my guess would be faust, but hartzell in net wouldnt be a surprise. Sager could be considering saving faust for sats game instead.
The curse lives on.....

WBL vs. CEC

Post by HockeyPuck219 »

I don't know. I think Cloquet will come out fired up and ready to play, but I don't think they will be able to handle White Bear Lake after Tuesday's loss. I haven't been able to catch any of Cloquet's games this year, but from what I have heard, I agree with "Boblee" that Ellingson hasn't come out as strong as he played last year.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Defense is softer...

Post by Skatingslow »

This year's cloquet team is better defensively then it was last year. THey only lost a single defensemen in Tyler Fast and Kyle Olson is currently in his 4 year patrolling the blue-line. And even if Ellingson hasn't fired yet--he will. The defense and goalie are stronger this year, period.

I have to agree with WBLBears06 that the Bears probably won't give up 3 goals to Cloquet. From what I've seen of them this year its going to be a very rare occurance when they give up 3 goals in a game. Their D is very disciplined and good at moving the puck. I can only remember 2-3 odd-man rushes against them in the two games so far (one of them resulted in Hoeffel's goal).

But I also don't think the Bears will score many goals either in this game or for the season as a whole. I think they really miss Connelly and Majkozak (sp?) who graduated last year. They were quick and could finish around the net. They provided a lot of offense, and I don't know if Grun will be able to provide that much offense by himself, especially in this game since it sounds like Cloquet has some good defensemen and a good goalie of their own.

I think this will be a good game. 2-1 Bears. And since I'll be away from the computer following the Bears on their Cloquet/Duluth swing, I'll predict a slightly more fast-paced game on Saturday against East with a 3-2 OT win for the Bears. Go Bears!

Don't be shocked if WBL has a tougher time with CEC than they do East.

I think Skatingslow has forgotten the d-men from last year. They lost another senior named Ray Saeland. I am not going to argue whether last year's defense was better than this year's defense. The group of forwards are not the same and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, the defense as a whole needs to get much better to compete in 7AA and hopefully beyond. Last year's team needed games against the top teams in the state, which unfortunatly they didn't have, to get them ready for playoffs. I think this year's team, which has some of those games on the schedule, needs to be more patient and not worry about wins and losses against those teams, but rather about getting better every game. That can be difficult against good teams early in the year.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... >wild77 at: 12/8/05 7:38 am

I think I'm going to drive up and watch this game and maybe stay for Saturdays game. In the past, most WB/cloquet games are ugly . lots of penalties and big hits.

This is a battle of two of the top five goalies in the state, assuming faust plays. It is a defensemans dream...

_________________

BOB

This should be a pretty good game. I think wbl will still be burnin from the loss to hill but it still should be pretty good. I will be driving up friday with my friends and staying over in duluth so we can see both games. I think that Faust should play agaisnt Duluth East for sure but Harzel should get in, in the Cloquet game.

I expect WBL to handle Cloquet pretty easily. I think it will probably be 3-1 or so, but Cloquet definitely has the advantage playing on their home ice. I heard Ellingson wasn't doing too well to begin the year too. Plus WBL is still a very good team even if they lost to HM 1-0. I think WBL will just overpower Cloquet. They will probably score the majority of their goals in the end of the 2nd period or the 3rd period after a being tied for a while in the beginning.
