How Far will Duluth East go?
After a big 2 - 1 Overtime win in section 7AA how far will East go? After Hills loss and Blaine victory East might be #4 rank. How far can the 1 line take them in St. Paul?

They'll see much stronger competition than they saw from Rapids? Come on . I do remember Rapids beating Edina and giving Eden Prairie all they could handle for two periods, so don't you think that's a bit of an exageration? If Randolph employs the same strategy he did against Rapids, they won't do much.east hockey wrote:Well, that "1 line" got them there, but they'll face much stronger competition in St Paul than they faced in 7AA. Fourth place.

Well, maybe a bit but considering it was N.O., I had to get that in.norcon wrote:They'll see much stronger competition than they saw from Rapids? Come on . How about this; they'll face stronger competition in St. Paul. That good?

What I'm hoping is that the overall talent that East has among its forwards finally steps it up. Kids like Johnson, Renier, Schendel sometimes seem to be skating with shackles on their feet. I think the better team lost the other night and the reason I think that is because Rapids' forwards were all over East's forwards until the 3rd period when they were called for back to back penalties. They were a bit quicker, a bit more aggressive and generated more chances from did the kids on the lower lines for East. Not that Rapids is necessarily better, but they were on Thursday. If East plays that way at state, it won't matter that they have a top-3 first line. This team needs to open it up, although maybe they aren't capable of that. If they do, they have a great chance of winning the whole deal.

Should be an exciting trip to state for East. Where they finish?
1) Jeanetta. He has looked solid the past couple of weeks, a great time to be playing well and with confidence.
2) East escaped against Rapids but they are a formidable team. If they play well and get some breaks they will be playing Saturday night.
3) All lines are capable of contributing, and they are capable of beating you many different ways.
4) If I am in the first bracket I am glad that Eden Prairie has two opportunities to lose before Saturday night. I believe they are clearly the team to beat, but... they are beatable.
