Hakstol gone...

Hakstol has been hired by the Flyers... this is crazy to me. Not that he isn't a good coach or deserving to try and take the next step, I just always thought he seemed quite happy with his gig in North Dakota... The "sue" have a big time hire to figure out now.

Very surprised as well. Am hearing they are going to announce that assistant coach Brad Barry is new HC. Surprised they didn't go for Eades.

I think it's a no lose for Hakstol. If he succeeds great, if not he can certainly come back into college coaching at some point and get a job I'm sure.

Eades is obviously a very quality coach but he was forced to leave for non hockey issues, that is all I can tell you from a couple people I know in that program. Berry is highly thought of and I'm guessing at this late date they wanted to give him a shot and keep some continuity.
