Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown

Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown
I chose Dodge County because half the Hermantown squad will catch Covid on the bus ride down to the Cities and have to forfeit. If not, well then Hermantown wins.

Would have been nice to see DC matched up with someone other than Hermantown or Gentry to see what Lamb could do and at least have a fighter's chance to get to the semifinal.
Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown
Hermantown by a ton.
Lamb vs Pierce a fun in game match up.
Hearing Dodge County may have to go back to AA next year. A nice short lived Class A run

I’m confused. Isn’t the quarantine 7 days? The game with Virginia was on the 23rd. The first state game is the 30th. Isn’t that 7 days

Quickest possible return is 7 days post exposure, so that would be tomorrow. Many school districts go with 14 days with no consideration at all for a shorter quarantine period.Getitright wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:49 am I’m confused. Isn’t the quarantine 7 days? So many questions, both COVID and non-COVID-related:
--When was the last time Hermantown's JV skated/practiced before yesterday? They were in quarantine at one point due to the exposure during the East JV game on 3/8...How will this presumed inactivity affect their play tonight?
--If Hermantown wins tonight and plays Friday, some/most/all varsity players will be back....but they presumably won't have practiced/skated for several days while in quarantine. How would that affect their play in a potential game Friday?
--As pointed out, different schools have different quarantine lengths. Why can't MDH or MSHSL have a uniform guideline on this so all are playing by the same guidelines/rules?
--I'd also be interested in knowing how this situation fits in to the traditional tournament roster limits. I believe rosters are set before sections. in the midst of a global pandemic, I'm fine with allowing any healthy players to play Friday--or any time of course. But it would be interesting to know if MSHSL agreed to make an accommodation, or whether this situation is covered under the normal roster rules for the tournament.
And those are just a few questions....

I believe in a normal year a team has the ability to replace an "injured" player on the playoff roster, this is really no different in that you essentially have approximately 15 players who are "injured" and need to be replaced.Duluthguy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:28 am So many questions, both COVID and non-COVID-related:

Assume it is 7 FULL days...... and they still have to test negative on Thursday to be able to play Friday for the 10 day quarantine.

Correct, the MDH even goes as far as stipulating the exact time that the recommended quarantine ends at the various levels (7, 10 or 14 days). So if their game on the 23rd concluded at 8:45 pm, the MDH would recommend that the earliest they could return would be 8:45 pm on the 30th with negative tests, as required for the shortened 7 day quarantine period. Obviously that doesn't work with an 6:00 pm game today.InYourFace09 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:57 amAssume it is 7 FULL days...... and they still have to test negative on Thursday to be able to play Friday for the 10 day quarantine.

If one player tests positive on Thursday does that take the whole team out?

No because they should all be quarantined individually, so only the guys who test positive would be out.

And if HT somehow wins today, we'll have a very public case study (albeit a small one) on the necessity of the opponent quarantine rule. I completely understand it's one instance, not statistically powered and there are other studies published that will support that the opponent quarantine is justified and necessary, but I wonder how it will play out in the court of public opinion in MN?

And what does it say when a JV team beats another schools varsity team at the State Tournament? this is going to get interesting. (Insert popcorn eating emoji).

Dodge County up 3-0 at this point over Hermantown*.
Looks like ol' Teak called it, eh?

*JV squad, but that is the level that people have been calling Single A for a while now in reference to H-town.

After watching one period. Fairly even territorially but Zdodge County capitalizing. Hermantowns regular team steamrolls that team.
