What! That's crazy!! So now will Pionk run the entire show now???? That's too bad. Stauber and Pionk seemed to make the perfect 1, 2 punch......
He’s not going anywhere, he’s still the AD at Proctor. Doing both was too much. I haven’t talked to Scott since Dan stepped down, but I don’t know if he would take the head job when his kid has one year of HS Hockey left. I’m guessing he will stay on as an unpaid assistant again. That allows him to miss a few games if he needs to.kniven wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 12:29 pmWhat! That's crazy!! He resigned from a nice gig at UWS for Proctor and the opportunity to build a program. He must have an offer in hand from elsewhere?
Interesting that Murphy is heading to the place where Matt Funk, whom he assisted at CDH, came from. Murphy has seemingly bounced around half of the the private schools in the Twin Cities now. There are some decent pieces in place at SPA, and Funk had a few great seasons there.
Apparently it’s coaching change day in the IMAC. I honestly didn’t know that Tearse was still at Providence. He did a nice job of getting the program up and running, but they really fell off the map in recent years. That’s a tough gig given the competition for private school students in the west metro. I know Providence slashed their tuition big time a few years back to help boost enrollment, but I don’t think it has been notably effective.
Spoke with Scott and Jeffy is correct. He doesn't want to miss many of his son's games this year so, he will not be applying for the head job but, will probably stay on as an assistant if asked.Jeffy95 wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:30 pmHe’s not going anywhere, he’s still the AD at Proctor. Kniven, trust me, neither of them is "going to Hermantown", nor is Dan looking for work elsewhere. Especially in today's current situation. Seriously, what evidence do you have of either of those things. Sometimes the simple and easy answer is the right one. My understanding is the Proctor School Board told Dan they preferred he just be the AD. So, he stepped down. Scott might've been interested in the Proctor job but, Proctor and Hermantown are currently scheduled to play on the same nights 12 times next season and, Scott simply didn't want to miss that many of his son's games. But, he's still interested in helping out as an assistant if asked. Trust me when I tell you this accurate.kniven wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 4:04 pm Sounds like things are exploding from inside the program. What they have now has zero chance of keeping their high-end talent in Proctor. A new building won’t do it alone. Stauber is probably already looking for work elsewhere. Possibly to Hermantown? I wouldn’t doubt it. Plonk as well.
Interesting hire. Heckuva player who didn’t quite make it to the big show and is still young. Obviously he is familiar with the program as a local kid, but limited coaching experience. Hopefully for Alexandria he can build on the momentum of the program and get them to the X consistently, and even shepherd them back to the AA ranks as the enrollment continues to increase.
It is official as the press release is now out there. He will definitely be familiar with the kids as he has been the Bantam Coordinator and taught Defensive Skills in the youth association. I think it is a good hire. I don't have any information on who else was in the pool.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 1:24 pmInteresting hire. It sounds like you can add Greenway to the list
Any truth to this post
Everybody knows about that rivalry. Greenway can’t survive in 2020. I filmed the scrimmage this fall with Cloquet, junior varsity vs. junior varsity before varsity. 60% of the Greenway JV squad couldn’t even skate. Much respect for those Greenway kids, but I felt bad for them. I’m going to take a look at youth hockey hub and Greenways youth squads. I get it. Cloquet after the 2012-2013 debacle could barely field JV, but at least they could actually skate. It’s time to take care of this generation and not the generations of 30 40 50 60 years ago.greenwayraider wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 4:10 pm Combine Greenway and Rapids? You’ve come up with a lot strange and poorly thought out ideas but this tops them all. Apparently your knowledge of the Greenway/Rapids rivalry is sourly lacking.
