What a monster MN class. Bob needs to get some of these uncommitted guys with Fleming being the top prize.

Interesting, or perhaps just random, that all are forwards.

Sorry, my bad. Not as familiar with him as a Shattuck kid. Thanks for the correction. Still obviously a group heavy on forwards.

I wonder if this is the first time a kid from the North Pole has received an invite? Love it.

I've been thinking the same thing, especially when being told almost all of these players are locks to be there next year. Some, yes. All or almost all? I just don't see it.

If half go I’d be shocked. It’s a grind and I’m not sure the edge it was 5-10 years ago.

How is it that Christian Manz, goaltender at SSM from Spring Lake Park didn't get an invite. The kid is a stud. I call BS.

They invited six others.

I don’t believe Manz went to National Camp last summer. Would suspect all of the six did, or at least five.

I think 4 of the 6 went to natty's and all the invitees are 6'0"+

I'm not a person that thinks you need to be 6'3" or taller to be successful in the net, but it is a factor they no doubt consider. Manz is a very good goalie, he'll be just fine without this opportunity.

Manz may top out at 6'0" or 6'1" but there are very few goalies in his age group that I would take over him...watched him play at MN Made for years and on '04 Machine teams where sometimes he was the only reason they were in games...but you're right, he will be just fine in the long run.

The other goalie on SSM 16's is 6'3", but a Canadian. I believe CM record was 16-4, the Canadian was 19-1 the last I saw.
I would bet that CM will be playing MSHSL hockey in 20-21, maybe H-M??? Time will tell.
The internal competition at SSM may be wearing thin on this player and family.
Erickson is at HM, so that wouldn’t seem to be a likely destination.

He only has to be better than Erickson, right? If he's lauded as NTDP material then I'd take my chances with than one.

Erickson is a natty camp goalie and been on the HM varsity team as a Fr and Sophomore, good luck

Exactly. I thought him and Sebek were the only Minnesotans but I guess there was a third.

Kids aren't necessarily going to be the same height as their father / parents. He very well could still grow depending on what height his immediate relatives are. I'm only 5'10" and my 6th grader is almost as tall as me and is projected to top out at 6'2" or 6'3" based on being in the 95th percentile...but I'm the runt of my litter and everyone else in my family is tall. I hope he gets close, being short kinda sucks.

Out of curiousity, how would Manz be able to open enroll back to MSHSL? Would he have to sit out a year like Blake? If his parents move out of their current ISD to another is he free to transfer to any HS he pleases?

Not any HS, but he could enroll at either the public school for the new area in which the family moves, or any private school. Absent a move, the player is barred from varsity competition for a year.

Nah...it's any high school (public or private) if there is a family move. Not limited to the "new area". Each situation is so unique, folks need to stop making eligibility determinations on these forums.

Sorry, you’re right. I didn’t think about open enrollment to other public schools.

No, he's wrong again. It has to be the Public School in the District they moved to, or any Private. You cannot move from District A to District B and then open-enroll at District C and be eligible there. You would have to play JV for a year.

Arctic, you can find the transfer rules here:

https://legacy.mshsl.org/mshsl/Publicat ... ?year=2016

They start on Page 21. You may want to actually read them before posting the rules.

Is this still scheduled to occur (it’s usually this weekend)?
