Maple Grove vs Blake
Maple Grove
Led by goaltender Jack Wieneke and solid backup Parker Slotsve. Scoring leaders Sam Jacobs, Tyler Oakland, Henry Nelson,
Cal Thomas and Landen Gunderson.
Coach by Todd Bergland.
Blake
Led by are junior forward Joe Miller, a Star Tribune All-Metro first-team selection, and defenseman Will Svenddal. Aksel Reid should be the tender
with GAA of 2.4 and save pct. of .904. Other scoring leaders are Jack Sabre and Gavin Best.
Coached by Rob McClanahan.
Most expect a Blake victory but Maple Grove finished the season strong and with good goaltending could be a surprise.

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
I'll take Maple Grove in the upset. 3-2.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Jack Weineke is the MG starting goalie & made 45 saves against Blaine in the section final. If your gonna write a preview, at least get that rightelliott70 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 8:11 am Maple Grove

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Sorry should have dug a little deeper.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
I wouldn't be surprised if either started. they have rotated most of the year. Going into sections Slotsve was the "hotter" tender, but as stated Weineke had the big performance in the section final. I would say not your traditional starter and back up tendy scenario.hockey59 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 8:36 amJack Weineke is the MG starting goalie & made 45 saves against Blaine in the section final. Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
I’m not hammering the other kid, I’m sure he’s an excellent goaltender. But Weineke will be the starter in the net vs Blake, that’s 100% chance.

You’ve been frighteningly accurate with your pics and calls this year. So can’t say I doubt it at this point

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Well my wife would tell you I'm wrong far more often. I just see it like this. This is Blake's first time on the big stage (same as Andover). And they are both favored. And that's a hard place for the first time. I won't be at all surprised to see one of the two lose today.BlueLineSpecial wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 9:17 amYou’ve been frighteningly accurate with your pics and calls this year. Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Not saying Weineke won't start, my point is I don't think either can really be called the starter or the back-up.

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Typical northern MN officiating crew, fails to call an obvious slash by Miller of Blake on a semi breakaway by a
MG player

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
MG draws 1st blood on a nice deflection of a point shot, 1-0 MG

Hardest game of the tournament is the 11 AM game on Thursday. It's hard to be on top of your game. Takes some teams half the game to get going.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Miller scores off a scramble 1-1
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Zick scores, 2-1 MG

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Pretty even so far, Blake top line is the best line in the game but MG is probably deeper. Not sure which will win out.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
It’s Miller time 2-2

Blake turning it on.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
My score prediction is going to be way off. And high scoring favors Blake.
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
3-2 Blake after two periods

Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
Yeah but if the score holds [3-2 Blake], you can just say you're dyslexic

Jacobs...MG ties it 3-3
Re: Maple Grove vs Blake
What a fun game to start with.

Hatty for Miller 4-3 Blake
