Blake was very fortunate not to get called for a blatant checking from behind penalty just before they got the penalty shot opportunity (which in turn was a very obvious pull-down from behind that absolutely had to be made). If that check into the boards head first had occurred in regulation time it very easily could have been a 5 minute major, but I guess in overtime they do everything they can to "let 'em play". That said, taken as a whole I thought the Bears had the overall edge in play, although after the 1st period BSM had their share of chances too. The second and third periods were fabulous up and down hockey, then in OT I thought both teams looked nervous and discombobulated for the most part...until that last fateful play.

Mankato plays as one youth hockey association then splits for high school. Quite the handshake line as lots of kids spent time talking and hugging their former team mates. It was pretty cool to watch.

Hermantown 6, Denfeld 0, final. Scrappy performance from the Hunters, who kept it a one-goal game through two, but you could just see them slowly running out of gas. They ran a very thin lineup and sprung a few decent chances in the first, hung on for dear life in the 2nd, then saw the floodgates open in the 3rd. The Hawks roll on.

Ponies score one late to make it interesting , then Roed adds an Eng for the 5-3 win
