Any guesses as to who is up for hosting HDM2021? I’m thinking a southern MN community like Mankato or Rochester.

While both Mankato & Rochester are worthy sites...back to Duluth, Canal Park with the Aerial Lift Bridge as the backdrop is my choice

It will be south. Maybe back in Duluth in 10-20 years. Too many sites for hockey day in the state of hockey.

Northfield/Owatonna would be more likely than any of the Rochester schools.

Easy sSouth/Iowa I’m pretty sure there is plenty of below average southern hockey programs praying tomorrow at mass that the puck gods will bless them. There is only sp much the rest of the state can stomach and the southern trip over themselves playing on hockey day.

My best guess will be MW vs ME on boys side class A side, double AA side will be a TC VS North AA side.

Girls classs A who cares it will be awful to watch they will throw some southern school a bone, AA side to hard to say.

The northern boys think it’s a one year north one year south, hard reality for the the north.

What northern AA schools haven’t played on Hockey Day? I just looked. Denfeld already played in a hockey day. Duluth East, Grand Rapids, and Moorehead have played in multiple hockey days. Yes, I’m thinking the North won’t have a representation next year.

I never quite understood the CEC vs. Roch Lourdes Hockey Day matchup that year. Was there some kind of history between those two programs?

I’d like to see one of the Mankato schools play New Ulm. There is kind of a natural rivalry with the two towns being close enough together. No section seeding implications makes the game easier for all involved as well.

I wouldn't call it a rivalry. New Ulm hasn't played either Mankato schools at the HS level since a 2007 section semi game (vs. West) and the two towns are in different districts for youth hockey. They may play some non-district games against each other, but not enough to churn up a true rivalry.

Not that I’m aware of. It makes sense though. We’d never play in the AA game and we travel well. And are in the same section as Elk River.

They are in different conferences as well.....I think they are close enough geographically that the natural rivalry that was there once would be pretty easy to get back, at least for a day.

I remember when there was some bad blood there and one school refused to schedule the others.

Not that I’m aware of. It makes sense though. We’d never play in the AA game and we travel well. And are in the same section as Elk River.

I wasn't really questioning the CEC side of the match. Not that I mean to offend any Lourdes fans out there. Maybe it had something to do with Purple.

Last year: Bemidji played Greenway

I would love to see a Friday Mankato East vs West followed by a MSU game outdoors. Saturday get two top A schools to play followed by two top AA schools. Follow that with MSU womans game.
