I never quite understood the CEC vs. Roch Lourdes Hockey Day matchup that year. Was there some kind of history between those two programs?
That rivalry goes back generations. They play for a rusty syringe. The legend is that a Lumberjack defense-man got a cut, & a Mayo doc was pretty rough jabbing the kid's arse administering the tetanus shot. The defense-man got beat on a last second breakaway & Mayo won on the ensuing goal.
