I hear ya Jeffy. A buddy 7 I were talking yesterday about how things have changed. If memory serves me as a Dist. 316 guy (Greenway) I don't think I had more than 5-6 snow days from kindergarten to 12th. Old buses with no 2-way radios & radiators banging away sitting in a classroom in grade school with a jacket procurred from my locker with a note of permission from my teacher to leave class.

In a way I would say that was unconventional, to let the puck slide to the outside man instead of taking it hard through the slot yourself. I’m not sure I would recommend it for your average players. But Shaugabay has uncanny hockey sense and can trust that his talented linemate will thread a pass back through to him for an easy finish.

As a side note, it appears that Meeker has replaced Foster on Warroad’s top line during the past two games.

Yeah , I agree. I would say 90% of HS centermen would have tried to settle that puck down from the first pass, and then try to stick handle through traffic towards the net, most likely giving up the puck in the process without a good shot . Shaugabay split second correct decision was remarkable for a freshman

Why is Woodbury so BAD in High School hockey? They certainly have the and (I believe) the numbers. Realize many of their best players end up at HM or other privates, but it still doesn’t add up.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think they also combine youth but split for high school with East Ridge? They have some good youth teams coming through but once again who knows where they’ll end up.

Yes. East Ridge also has kids who played in the Cottage Grove hockey association. A lot of the top players from Woodbury, Cottage Grove, Oakdale, and Stillwater, are the top players at Hill Murray. Hard for those teams to be competitive when this happens year in and year out.

In the second Hill had a 3-0 lead, Hastings cut it to 3-1 and had a power play. The Raiders missed an open net and took a stupid 5 minute penalty out of frustration, they scored during the 4 on 4 to make it 3-2 but Hill scored on the power play with under a second left in the second to make it 4-2 after 2. Hill was the better team most of the night. Hastings lack of discipline cost them though.
