I believe the last time Superior beat DE was 2003...now that’s a long losing streak. 2/17/04. 2/7/91 before that, so East has won 34 of their last 35 meetings. I was somewhat surprised to see that--I'd assumed Superior had fared somewhat better. Superior did have a stretch at the start of the 80's where they won four of five. But they A bit nerve-wracking at times for the Greyhound faithful, but objectively, this was one of the most fun nights I've had at the Heritage Center in a while. Packed house, and the most even these two have been talent-wise in my memory (including the Denfeld 2013 win). Both teams were down a top player, with Finn Hoops out for East and Cooper McClure missing for Denfeld, which was a shame; it made Denfeld a bit top line heavy and left East's second line looking better than its top line for stretches (though the top line still did the bulk of the scoring). East came out trapping and had Denfeld completely bottled up for most of the first, but it cracked late in the period and Connor McClure scored; East leveled it on a PP late in the first, and after going down 2-1, rattled off four goals in the span of 1:22 and hung on from there.
