When Tonka scored the tying goal I thought here we go. But to Rapids credit they won it. They showed great character in recovering from that last second goal. That bodes well for them the rest of the season as finding a way to win instead of finding a way to lose is huge. Andover and East are on notice.

Tonka will not be in a good mood. Hoping it stays out of running time and Greenway makes them nervous for a couple of periods.

I think the most encouraging thing from this game is the way Rapids could have folded and given-in. Instead this seemed a real character game to me. Like I reported after the BSM win, this is a very likeable GR team. They hustle, work together well, and seem tough-minded. It is early in the season, but it is nice to start the season with victories, rather than trying to rationalize moral victories.

First saw Del Greco this year in the noon Saturday game of the HP54 16s at Plymouth Ice Center last April. He had a great game. I said to myself- I m going to really like this kid.. Sure enough, he had a strong rest of the weekend and went on to Buffalo. Now he shows what hes got starting his high school career. Great breakaway go ahead goal, then GWG with strong faceoff shot ! Im thinking hes under the new rules so wouldnt be able to college commit til August?, but for sure hes going to be NCHC material. Looking forward to see him at the Braemar Holiday Classic in a couple weeks.
