Kind of an ugly loss for Alex. Brainerd is down this year, and Cathedral and Hermantown mauled them.
Yeah, Alexandria has not looked good coming out of the break. Mahtomedi pretty much handled them, and even though I didn't see last night's game, just listened to it and talked to our two billets that went, Brainerd kind of had their way with them.

I will get to see the Cathedral game coming up later this month, and hopefully one other one.

Warroad 6. Fergus Falls 2. Shots on goal were similar margin. Not complaining on the outcome of the game, but both FF and Warrior fans couldn't figure out the officials. Penalty shot for Warroad that really wasnt a penalty shot. Checks being called as penalties. Players ejected for?????
Warroad has a great team, but honestly this game was closer than 6-2. FF kind of gave in.

This is a transition year for Alex. The graduated out a lot (talent and numbers), especially at forward. First line is very good. They are still figuring out rotations for the rest. They have 2 solid goalies. They return several key blue liners, but it has been an adjustment with a couple very strong 2 way forwards graduating out. One of the goalies will have to get red hot in order for this team to beat any of the top 6-7 teams in Class A. The nice thing is they have a very strong Bantam A team that will help the team out the next few years.

That Little Falls performance was terrible, and could really hurt their seed line. I watched a good portion of the game, and the Flyers looked completely lost for the first two periods. River Lakes packed in their defense, and LF could not figure out how to penetrate until it was too late. It was also pretty physical and chippy. Credit to RL for executing a good game plan, but LF also shot themselves in the foot.

That score did make me go "wow" when I saw it. Morris/Benson could be sliding up into that QRF #3 spot next Monday if they take care of business this weekend.

I figured that Alex would beat Sartell but I was kind of surprised at the closeness of the score when looking at just records. Goes to show you just can't look at records, I guess.

I did watch parts of the Cathedral at Andover game. Cathedral came out slow, but stuck with it and looked good in the second and third. If they can play three periods of hockey, this section is theirs to take, even with injuries.

The other scores pretty much went as expected.

Exactly what they've done to LF for the last few years. IMO, coaching staff needs to communicate this to the kids, or if they have, the kids need to respond better. RL has had LF number the last few years because of this. RL has just looked stronger physically the last few years as well. Frustrating.

Is there any chance Smith makes it back for SCC this season? Is it a rotator cuff injury?

AWESOME NEWS!!

With the weather report looking brutal for Friday if you are an Alexandria you really want to play the Crusaders Friday before the return of Smith. If game gets postponed could change the dynamic of that Match-up. Not looking like Friday games will happen...

Thanks for the update, I have made the change to the schedule.

It will be interesting weather wise come Friday into Saturday. Listening to the radio this morning, the Alex area is predicted to get 6-10 inches Friday and Saturday. Watching the news this morning, we are only supposed to get 4-5 inches over the two days...... :? Although it sounds like either way, the wind will be a huge factor.

I believe Cathedral at Alexandria has been postponed. Alex has already announced a 2 hour early dismissal for tomorrow and stated all Middle School and High School after school activities have been cancelled.

Edit: it is postponed to a date to be announced.

Yes they were. LF controlled play throughout the first period. Cathedral scored right off the bat in the second, and then responded quickly after LF went back up 3-1, and you could tell that the Flyers were hanging on for dear life. The wheels came completely off after that point, unfortunately.

Also, what the heck is River Lakes doing in losing to a stinky Sartell team? RL confuses me.
