Mr. Hockey 2018

Post by The Exiled One »

No clear cut favorite this year. Should be interesting. Still don't know who's staying and going, though a couple of these are heavily rumored to be leaving. For a start, here are the college committed seniors:

Code: Select all

Sammy Walker Edina MINNESOTA
Blake McLaughlin Grand Rapids MINNESOTA
James Marooney Holy Family OHIO STATE
Ben Almquist Holy Family WiSCONSIN
Brady Ziemer Holy Family ST. CLOUD STATE
Luke Loheit Minnetonka MINN-DULUTH
Carter Randklev Moorhead ARIZONA STATE
Devlin McCabe St.Paul Academy MINN-DULUTH
Grant Anderson Wayzata NEBRASKA-OMAHA
Colin Schmidt Wayzata MINNESOTA

Duluth East is stacked this winter. Probably pre-season top 5 ranking.

I bet you're right, but he hasn't officially left yet.

Here are the 2000 born players participation in the National Selects Camp All-Star Game. Not that it has anything to do with MSHSL hockey, but it's something.

Code: Select all

Blake McLaughlin Grand Rapids MINNESOTA
Devlin McCabe St.Paul Academy MINN-DULUTH
Lots of MN juniors participating in that game. Next year's Mr. Hockey race could be more exciting than this year's.

I could see big things for Donovan from DE this year. Plus playing with Worth and Megeau.

Loosing a senior tender. Who takes over? I really like that Donovan kid! A class act for sure. I'm going to have to meet/ shake this kids hand this winter.

They have Lukan Hanson(jr) who started about 6 games early last season.

Code: Select all

Sammy Walker Edina MINNESOTA
Tyler Watkins Hermantown Uncommitted
James Marooney Holy Family OHIO STATE
Ben Almquist Holy Family WiSCONSIN
Brady Ziemer Holy Family ST. CLOUD STATE
Ian Mageau Duluth East Uncommitted
Carter Randklev Moorhead ARIZONA STATE
Devlin McCabe St.Paul Academy MINN-DULUTH
Grant Anderson Wayzata NEBRASKA-OMAHA
Colin Schmidt Wayzata MINNESOTA
Edina vs. Holy Family begins the season in November. I believe Sammy vs. Ben Almquist along with Carter Randklev are the heavy favorites.

Norcon: Yes, Gavin probably would have won it IMHO.

Kniven Agree Hounds will be top 5 preseason. (Goaltending?)

UST Will Donovan achieve potential , and rack up 50-60 points?

HOF Agree Walker, Almquist, Randklev might be top 3

Here are last years points for returning top senior scorers on top 20 AA teams, excuse any omissions.

(I guess we shouldnt forget Brandt or Hamstead in this thread, no one mentioned their names earlier above)

Almquist HF 49 18G
Walker ED 48 22 G
Brandt LVN 46 22 G
Randklev MH 46 26 G!!
McGregor CENT 46 25 G!!
Hamstead WBL 42 15 g
