Which is why where the enrollment cut off will be is interesting, Rochester Century is the smallest AA school, if they are below the threshold and don't opt up someone will have to replace them in 1AA. Hastings would be the most likely school but Rosemount, AV, Eastview, Eagan, and STA are all possibilities as well.
If MSHSL keeps to their goal of geographically compact sections and contiguous boundaries, Eastview, Eagan and STA couldn't move to 1AA as they lack a shared border with a 1AA school.

I still like the idea of a counter-clockwise shuffle around the 494/694 circle that would send Prior Lake and Burnsville to 1AA, and back-fill 2AA with teams from 6AA. Bring 6AA up to size with a team or two from 5AA, and then place Rogers in 5AA.

If only minor adjustments are the goal, then Hastings to 1AA and STA to 3AA.

How about eliminating all sections and seeding the teams 1-64 and have it out. The sweet 16 could play at bigger venues and the final 8 go to the big dance in St. Paul.

Elk River won their section in 02,04 and 05. ER wasn't in 7AA , pretty tough to win the section when you're not in!

Elk River wasn't even in 7AA in 2001, so why would I think you were talking about a section championship, especially since ER won their section in '02, '04 and '05 as well (as well not a part of 7AA)?

But now that you've clarified, clearly GR 2 section titles since 1991 is an impressive feat. Please carry on.
