Off-Season Coaching Changes

According to her Twitter account, Taylor Williamson at Wayzata is out. No reason given.

I get it. Will be very different coaching that team without Matthews, but that is too bad. From the outside, seems like she did a really nice job with that program (even if the section 6 gauntlet means they never made it very far).

Maybe the pay wasn't worth it anymore? No high school coach is paid enough for the hours they put in, or what they have to endure from parents.

BTW, In mid-2020, I predicted the BSM coaching job would come open about a week after their 20-21 season ended.

Result? Bingo.

I'm late for this prediction, but, my guess is the Chisago Lakes job will be open soon. Just a hunch, given who is graduating.

No Randy has a good core coming back and my daughter said they have 5 coming from Minnetomla, they are signed up and even did a school visit with Kaiser.

I think you're missing the point. Benilde "had a great corps coming back" in 2021-22 and they always get good players from Highway 100. Player recruitment is part of the job for private schools until the coach doesn't have the job.

Yes, I would not be surprised if Holy Family needs a new coach in 12 months.

Just heard from a reliable source that Ol' Randy is going to be done when his daughter graduates.

I have heard Hastings may be open but not 100% on that.

I did a search on job posting sites and it appears the following girls head coach positions are seeking applications:

Hutchinson
Delano
St Francis (Northern Tier)
Wayzata
Shakopee
Red Wing
Minneapolis
Eden Prairie

What happened in EP? I'm hoping he stepped down on his own accord. Has been a coach for a long time with a positive track record.

Dunno the reason either, but I heard some ramblings that it was time for some fresh air; kind of weird it happens in both the girls and boys program in the same year. It was just announced that he took the job down in Shakopee, so that should be interesting...

Heard Grossman is on the Shakopee youth hockey board so presumably lives/has kids in Shakopee. Maybe he wants to coach his kid(s) some day?

True. And not shocking. Shocking it didn't happen after 2 season, but there's the covid exception, I guess.

Any word on the EP job, Seems like that is a desirable position. Always have had a strong program. Their u15B team won the state championship.

Looks like Northern Tier has hired Josh Kozak as their new head coach for 2022-23

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Burgen has resigned, confirmed by the YHH pod.

It's quite the opportunity for a coach. Change nothing, and a state berth is likely next February. The new coach's true mettle will be seen in 12 months' time, when he/she has to replace about 10 skaters and both varsity goalies when they graduate in 2023.

I'm guessing Hill Murray and Stillwater might have something to say about a "state berth is likely next February."

Anyone hear why she stepped down?

Not always. Schedule conflicts do happen...
