Going to ask the same question I asked on the boys side. You have an undefeated Stillwater team, playing an entire schedule against lesser conference foes. Can't see any other team in that conference making State. Let's say Stillwater goes undefeated. And you have a Hill-Murray team that played the best the state has to offer, Clearly a much better schedule. Let's say they make sections with 3 losses and Stillwater has zero or maybe one. Who do you give the number one seed to? How can we judge how good Stillwater is? They may very well be the better team and we'll get to see. But seeding is going to suck this year.
Re: 4AA
That's a fair question writ large - including across eventual state seedings. Is it possible a Stillwater team manages to beat a stronger Hill Murray team, emerges undefeated, Edina comes out of 6 but only after dropping a squeaker to Tonka in their second regular season match-up, and Stillwater gets a 2 overall seed? The laughability factor would be high - Stillwater is solid but nowhere near as strong as Edina - but if I were a Stillwater partisan I'd still make the argument.
In terms of 4AA, I think there's no question Stillwater would make that argument over Hill. It's an issue all around the state. The South Suburban only playing eachother, Northwest Suburban only playing eachother - we just won't know how real teams are until sections and state, and seedings will be a guessing game.

Doesn't really matter does it? Both will have first-round walkovers, and then will play Mounds View and Roseville in the semi-finals.Sparlimb wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:57 pm Going to ask the same question I asked on the boys side. No matter what, if they make it that far, the Section final is a home game for Hill-Murray. The only difference is who gets to wear their home whites.
Maybe the MSHSL should consider equity and participation, and place the 4AA final at Tria in the future.
Re: 4AA
Interesting question. Let's see how the rest of the regular season plays out. Right now Hill's only blemish is a 1-0 loss to Edina while Stillwater has 4-4 tie vs Forest Lake to mar an otherwise perfect record (incidentally a game in which the Ponies were down 4-0).
With respect to the scenario that Stillwater gets through 4AA to the state tournament does anyone on this site really think that the coaches would seed them ahead of the Hornets?

Re: 4AA
There is no way Stillwater gets higher than a 4 seed at State if Andover, Edina and Minnetonka are in the tourney.bodyup88 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 11:01 am Interesting question. As could the Covid issues currently at HM with girls hockey. School went online mon-wed this week. Boys JV shut down for season also.
Re: 4AA
Yeah not good. We had the discussion on the boys side, but there is a very real possibility of good teams not getting a chance at a title due to covid. You get it the wrong 2 weeks and you just have to forfeit a sectional game. And it seems to be hitting a lot of teams right now.tourneytickssince59 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 7:49 pmAs could the Covid issues currently at HM with girls hockey.
