Moosepaw, how about a game report from Holy Family V. Edina? Looks like the Fire maybe had a little trouble coming out of the gate last night - shots 31-5 in the first. Is that accurate?

You won't win very often when you give up 56 shots.

Andover outscoring opponents 48-1 after first 5 games...wow. Only notable opponent in #6 Maple Grove (who they beat 7-0, shots 48-14).

Edina outscoring opponents 35-3 after first 5 games. 2 notable opponents, #10 Holy Family (beat them 8-0, shots 56-22) and unranked Blake (won 6-3 w/eng, shots were 38-24).

Unfortunately these 2 teams dont play each other in regular season so we will have to wait until mid-March to see who is the real #1!!! Edina will play some games that might be a challenge (Hill, Skipper & Trojan x2, and then both BSM and Blake again) but looks like Andover won't have much of a fight til the state tourney. Blaine's goalie is LEGIT but probably won't be able to stone 50+ shots from Andover. Maple Grove gets one more chance at them but after a drubbing it looks unlikely they will put up much of a fight.

Hill-Murray outlasts Benilde-St. Margaret's 3-1. BSM had slightly more of the play on their side, but both teams had chances. BSM's Haag missed on 3 different breakaways, which likely was the difference.

Hill-Murray is playing a freshman goalie, Grace Zahn, and she was outstanding today...

On to Edina for HM next Wed...

The summary on the game is we came out kinda flat Edina was buzzing. I think the next time we play them it’s at our rink. As the game went on it was very even. Once we switched goalies it helped settle us down. Randy called timeout in the first to help us refocus which was a great call at that’s point. Remember we have no seniors and Kasier playing for us next year. We had 4-5 great chances including a breakaway by Limke.

The next time we play the Hornets it will be a much better game and we will for sure make changes. Shots in the first was 21-2.

The problem here is a lack of objectivity. Let's try not to push specific agendas and twist facts to fit a narrative while hoping people won't dig deeper. Moosepaw claims that their coach called a timeout to "refocus" the team. He said it was a "great call." However, he failed to mention that the Hornets scored 35 seconds after the "great call" time out. Then they would score 61 seconds after that. How can you say that timeout was a "great call" when Edina scored 2 goals within 96 seconds after the timeout??

Holy Family got beat 8-0. That's not a slow start. That's a beating. One of two things is true. Edina is really that good, or Holy Family is not as good as their faithful would like you to believe. (moosepaw had them ranked 4th!) I'll go with both.

Freshman goalie for HM played well, but the team did a nice job of clogging things up when the play was in its own end, not allowing too many high-danger chances 5-on-5. Out in the open is where the Red Knights had their chances and didn't capitalize. BSM finished with 5 solo breakways (Haag had 2, not 3) and 3 2-on-1s. From those 8 opportunities, it only accounted for 2 shots on goal and just a single goal, which came on a SH breakway in the 3rd. Pioneers held BSM to 61 shot attempts for the game, which was 15 below its average and the 26 SOG BSM finsihed with was a season-low to this point.

HM is a very solid/strong team which plays well in its own end.
