Farmington getting taken to the woodshed by Andover today. 6-0 at the moment. Running time...

I'm not sure if Andover is that much better or if Farmington just played like crap today, but the goaltending hasn't been good and the Tigers can't clear their zone.

Combination of Farmington playing without their best player and Andover just being a better team. This was a mismatch on paper heading into the game, the result is about as expected.

Pretty crazy how deep and strong Andover is. Farmington focused on shutting down the dominant top line of Hemp-Nelson-Krause, and did, and Andover still scored six goals.

I know Roseau can score, but getting down 2-0 early wasn't in their best interest.

Still 4-2 heading into the 3rd. Roseau needs their first line to stay fresh and score (twice!) if they're going to get back into it.

Roseau did their best to make it a game but ran out of gas in the 3rd. Final was 7-2 with an empty netter at the end.
The Skippers move on to face Andover in the first semi Friday night.

Just not enough for Roseau. They played a decent game, they just lack at goaltending and the depth Minnetonka has (which not many other teams have either).

I would like to say, what happened to the unwritten rule that Roseau is supposed to ship HM any Helgeson's that come through their system?

Tonka looked really good. Having one of the best 2 lock down D in the state on the ice anytime that it matters is so big. They add so much defensive stability and each of them can be lethal offensively too. Their forwards put the puck on net and then look to be in places to screen, score gritty goals, and that opens up some other great opportunities as well. Looked like they were playing 3 lines of D so the top 2 lines should be well rested. Hope that they give Andover a good game and expect them to.

Maple Grove should handle HM pretty easily as there is a pretty big separation between the top 4 seeds and the rest. Today could be blowout city in all games and yet another reason to revamp the section format for Girls hockey. Tomorrow night should be fun to watch.

The tactical options change tomorrow and Saturday, too. Adding TV timeouts means having the kids you want on the ice significantly more. That has different advantages to different teams, but it seems like it takes away a big advantage for Andover given how they can roll three lines and expect all of them to score. We should have one good quarterfinal tonight, and hopefully two good semis tomorrow.

I don't think HM is as bad as you think. They can win tonight. They did beat Andover. They likely can't beat Edina and then Andover on consecutive nights, so I'm not predicting a title or anything. And MG beat them in the regular season and is favored to do so again. But they have some D1 talent and decent goal tending. So that can catch fire any time.

Oops. By far the most entertaining game of the day, as the previous three were decided by 6, then 5, then 4 goal margins. In this one Hill-Murray has come back with two late second period goals to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third. Should be an exciting finish!

HM looking really good through 2. Still anybody's game, but they are really generating the chances.

Congrats to Maple Grove. They went out and took the game in the third. They are a solid squad. Top 4 seeds do indeed move on...

Can you believe in miracles?

HUGE upset as C-E-C takes down powerhouse Warroad 5-3. Taylor Nelson with the hat trick to lead the Lumberjacks to victory. Bemidji State's got one heck of a player coming their way.

Not any real goaltenders that blew me away, but will go with the Maple Grove goalie as the best in AA.
I can splash in the rink puddles!
