In AA, I think there's three favorites:

Hill-Murray until proven otherwise
OMG
Blaine - great group of returning players, and a freshman phenom added to the mix.

In A, it'll either be Breck or Blake.

Good Luck to all the girls trying out. Enjoy the season. especially to all you seniors. Make your last high school season a memorial one.

I think Blaine and MG are in same section so only one of them will have a chance at the end. I also think Centennial could give them both fits when its all said and done. Good luck girls

I don't see Dodge County even in the top 10.

I also think this may be Breck's year if they can beat United who has consistently given them trouble the last few years. They are deep. Blake has a lot of young talent but other than CB seems to have graduated their big guns.

I hope it's Blaine and Hill, of course.

And I think Warroad will fall apart outside their own section schedule.

Looking forward to watching the best seniors duke it out and the best 9th graders making their mark! Countdown to the tourneys.....

Ramsey Parent. According to the news story I found online, the varsity coach would've had her as second-line forward last year as an 8th grader. School District rules precluded her from playing varsity last year. Selected for the national camp this past summer.

I think any 8th grader who would've played as a top-6 forward for a state tourney team can be considered a "phenom."

AA:

Tonka- losing Dman Crow hurts but still strong team
MG- Larson is gone, but plenty remains of their critical core players,
goaltending is very strong
Hm- 84 pts are gone, depth will help a lot but who will score is ?,
goalies are big ? mark
Edina- Williamson gone , but team potentially could be better

A:

Breck: No Schwartzman but team looks to be strong, very very good in goal
SPU: losing half of Dmen of an average defense hurts, offense looks good
plus 1 yr rental SR from Irondale looks to help offense even more
Blake:losing Chancellor and Lund says a lot
P/H: Two recruits from Duluth help a good team get better

Are the two Duluth recruits eligible? At least one of the families did not move to Hermantown by the start of the school year. They have an apartment while they're waiting for their house to sell but they didn't get it until well after the school year started.

But when did they rent the apartment? Like previous transfer recruits, Hermantown and elsewhere, as long as they can show a lease dated before school starts they can say they lived there and the MSHSL will never check. Surprised they sold their houses. Previous move-ins "allegedly" only moved on paper for a season and then returned to their original homes. I say "allegedly" because this was an ongoing discussion around the metro this summer. Even more so by their own families than by their opponents. No idea if this is true or who is affected but it is an impressive fiction if it is not in fact true. Guess the official rosters will tell the story?
This is the only case I've heard since the Achiever mess of a team trying to skirt the transfer rules ("allegedly") but it would be surprising to find they are the only ones doing this since the rule enforcers (MSHSL) have zero credibility. I'd like to believe this is not really happening. But it sounds like an awful lot of bad blood up north.
What next.

Both are listed on Varsity roster. A sale of a previous residence is not necessary for a move to be "legal" with the MSHS league. Don't listen to those think it is, if that family complied with the complete criteria for moving , the kid will be fine. I don't know the two families, but since one is the former Duluth coach , I would think they would cross their "T's".

Interesting. And I suppose you are correct if the MSHSL wants to discredit its own policies due to technicalities. I guess my point has always been if a team is truly cheating, it's opponents will scream it from the rooftops. And that hasn't happened so...

First games tomorrow or does anyone play tonight? Can't wait.
