1A
Albert Lea 7 Marshall 1
score was 4-0 3 minutes into the game...although shots were some what close, AL clearly had more quality shots and pretty much dominated from start to finish.
New Ulm was up 1-0 over Mankato West after the 1st period. Litchfield from West may be a skilled player..but I have not seen anybody float around the red line while his team is getting hammered in the defensive end like he does in a long time.

Buegler was awesome. It was exactly like whoever it was predicted, Buegler played awesome and NU capitalized on their chances. I was very impressed with NU on the defensive side and their penalty kill shut West down very nicely.
I left before the game was over but for the second year in a row West went out with zero class. Last year it was the whole team cheering against East, this year it was starting a brawl which sounded like it involved over half the kids on the ice. I hope West's stupidity didnt lead to anything happening to any NU players.
As for Friday, if AL comes out and plays like they did tonight, NU is going to be in trouble.

End of game brawl
Did anybody get the brawl at the end of the game on tape? Does anybody know anyone that has it on tape? If you do, please put it on youtube, so we can all see it. Anyone see the brawl outside the rink after the game? No wonder these teams never play each other in the regular season.
NEW ULM VS WEST
PEOPLE WILL SAY IT WAS ALL NEW ULMS FAULT FOR THE AFTER GAME FRACAS, BUT IT WAS NOT.ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WEST SHOWING NO CLASS.THEY GOT BEATEN TOP TO BOTTOM AND COULD NOT HANDLE IT SO THEY RESORT TO THIS GARBAGE.

I thought it was more then just "rasslin" The cops had to get involved
outside with some students.
I do agree that this will all be put on N.U. when it was actually a player
from West starting it all by taking out a New Ulm player during the handshake.
Names don't really matter at this point. We will have to see what the
Refs decide.
Terrible ending to a well played hockey game.

I'm going to tell it like it is so you egos can't put any spin on this.
The origins of the fight date back to youth hockey. There is more bad blood between Mankato and New Ulm players, parents, and fans then I can even begin to explain. It really showed after West's season ended tonight.
Midway through the second West's goalie Trembley was knocked out of the game when a New Ulm player crashed the net hard. It was not a cheap play, just good hustle to the net and unfortunately Trembley cam up limping.
The entire game was filled with penalties. The third period was very physical, and you could see the moment West realized their season was over and it caused them to play with extra emotion.
After the game during the handshakes a New Ulm player said something to Trembley who was undressed and in his warmup. Trembley reacted in an understandably emotional fashion. He took the jersey of the player and dragged him to the ice. The rest was a pretty classic brawl. BOTH teams were throwing punches.
After the game in Civic Center plaza there were a group of new ulm fans who got into it with a large group of west fans. One west fan was punched in the mouth. The police were called, 8-10 cops showed up and investigated. That's what I know, what I saw.
Hockey is an emotional game. A season of expectations for West came to an end in a frustrating way. Trembley who was injured in his last ever hockey game reacted in a way which at least I can justify.

I spoke with my borther in law on the N. U. bus. He stated that a New Ulm, knocked out two West fans. Knocked out teeth and left both unconcious.
I would put names on but I don't think it matters. P.M. if you NEED to know.
AL looked good. I would agree N.U. will have to work their asses off on Fri. to have a chance.
Also sounds like there will be no suspensions, due to West starting the brawl.

this is the end
Everybody's "season of expectation's" comes to an end this time of year, but very few end in fight's.
