9.
10.

Defensemen
1. Gross
2. Raskob NTDP
3. Ausmus NTDP
4. Schuldt

1. Parker
2. Dugas
3. Gerdes
4. Miska NTDP Last year didn’t take Thompson (Denfeld) who was invited to NTDP.

5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Defensemen
1. Skjei NTDP

Raskob isn't going to NTDP. But I agree with most of the people you have listed. I wouldn't consider Schuldt a lock, but should be high up on the list of players.

What did you think of Adam Johnson? Signed a letter of intent with UND and didn't make your top 20.

I wasn't there but heard, from a couple of sources, Michaelson did nothing.

My mistake on Raskob, I thought he had accepted. You are probably right about Schuldt not being a lock, I had him just a little bit ahead of Lewis and Heinrich.

I didn't think that Johnson stood out or got much done. Extremely good hands, and special to watch at the state tournament.

Michaelson definitely was not the best player that I saw this past weekend. I put him in the "lock" category based on past accomplishments and how I've seen him play numerous times. (making the last two national teams, leading a highly rated Apple Valley team in scoring against good competition, U of M recruit, etc) Right or wrong I think that Johnson had a lot more to "prove" to the evaluators then Michaelson did.

How can players that weren't there be on your list as locks?

USA Hockey is the one evaluating the Final 54's and choosing the final National Team. Players already on the National Development Team were already evaluated and chosen by USA Hockey as some of the best in the country, not just in their state, so I believe spots are reserved for them on the final National Team.

Same thing as last year, I believe they left some open spots for those players already on the National Development Team.
2010 Minnesota Advanced 17s

Jonny Brodzinski F Blaine
Tony Cameranesi F Wayzata
Josh Erickson F Roseau
Steven Fogarty F Edina
Ben Greiner F Shattuck-St. Mary's
Christian Horn F Benilde-St. Margaret's
Joe LaBate F Holy Angels
Austyn Young F South St. Paul
Max Everson D Edina
Taylor Fleming D St. Thomas Academy
Dan Molenaar D Eden Prairie
Nick Seeler D Eden Prairie
Andy Welinski D Duluth East
Charlie Lindgren G Lakeville North

I believe Lucia made it to New York for the 17's, but was not listed because he was unable to play in the 54's????

Also last year, Stepan did not make the team after trying out for the 16's, but still moved on to New York???? Not saying he didn't deserve to go, but anyone know the reasons/process for some of these things?

That makes sense.

I think Stepan tried out for Team Wisc. last year, and made that way.

No Stepan tried out for MN and was in the Final 54's. MN hockey didn't move him forward, USA did. MN hockey always has some real question marks as what they are thinking.

I'd say Parker is a lock for 1 goalie spot for the 16's. But I'd say the second spot is a toss up between Dugas, Gerdrs, and Miska. I'd say Miska has the advantage because of his resume.

I would go with Gerdes and Parker. Both have been playing the position since Mites and appear to be able to handle the ever-changing pressure. Each display confidence on the ice and around the net; very solid picks.

Does anyone know the time frame for announcing the teams?

Lucia made the team last year because they evaluated him at the Sioux Falls Camp Apparently.

If you honestly don't think Lucia deserved to get nominated to go out to New York you are crazy.

List on MN hockey.

Overall best team has most players, hard to argue as need to be a team player as just about all players have very good skills.

Hell, I'd say that just as often USA hockey does some pretty strange things!

Yeah I can't deny that I am very surprised at a number of these picks. Not really sure what happened.

Coaches preferences are not all the same. That is to be expected at all levels.

If you have not experienced that so far, you have been fortunate/lucky or had politics on your side. Congratulations to those that made it!
