Section 2AA Championship

Post by theoneandonly1 »

Alright well after today's games we finally get our fairy tale match-up. #1 seed Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars against the #2 seed Edina Hornets. Who takes this one and heads to the X?

Jefferson 4-2

Why? Because they have something to prove. Everyone has said they haven't played anyone. Well, this is their time to shut everyone up and I think they will. After this game everyone will have to give the Jags the respect they deserve!

Good defense, goaltending, and depth are what win Championships.

GO JAGS!!!

I actually think I can attend this game...I'm pretty stoked because I haven't been to any games this year.

I'm going with Jags 3, Hornets 2 in OT.

You are right. I hadn't considered that. Edina has nothing to prove and will lose as a result.
Be kind. Rewind.

This could easily be the State Final. It's a shame they get stuck together in the same section. Jags are destined...

This should be a great game to watch. These teams have always matched up well since these guys were squirts, so it should be a close one. I think the first period will be crucial, whoever comes out ready to play from the drop of the puck will win. I'll take the Jags by one.

I wish they both could go, but that scenario has been true for many years all over the state (and possible back before 1975).

Edina by 2.

I disagree the Hornets have something to prove, and that is that they can win the state tournament

That group of seniors have not wont won it yet and this is obviously their last chance

should be a really good game... i really think its who gets the momentum at the start. jefferson isnt used to being down (when they got down against EP they looked desperate and much worse than they really are)....... i really think that's the only way edina can beat them is if they get a few in the net early. and on that note...

If Jefferson uses the depth they have to their advantage and plays good D then they should be able to come out on top in this one

Jefferson 4
Edina 2

Jags just have to shut down Edina's big first line.

big is the key word there, i think the size and strength of edinas forwards will give jefferson trouble. Some of jeffersons d are rather small and they may lack the strength to match up with edinas forwards. if oconnor can make some saves early it should be a good one but if edina gets a soft one it could end up about 5-2.

If Jags can hang on and keep it close into the 3rd period, I'm confident they will win. Whoever comes out on top, should be a favorite to win it all.

I agree, Edina should prevail, provided they get to Oconnor early. Nerves may also play into the Jags play early in the game. Edina 4-2

The Olympic size ice surface should help Jefferson keep it further away from the net and give them more room to skate it out of the zone. This could help offset one of Edina's key strengths: being able to score in close quarters right around the goal crease.

I think you may have missed O-townClown's sarcasm. He's an Edina guy and is well aware of the fact that Edina wants a State Championship badly this year!! I think you're right though 51 - Edina has the experience and depth and should take this one but I doubt Jefferson will give it up easily. Good luck to both teams - I'm sure it will be a great game.
