US Under 18 Team?

Post by breakout »

For those that were there, which Minnesota kids impressed you this past week? Which Minnesota kids do you think deserve an opportunity to play on the U.S. Under 18 Team that will play in the Czech Republic?

Which other players outside Minnesota impressed you?

How did the NTDP kids look vs. others?

I can't give a personal opinion this year as I wasn't there. But I can pass along informed opinions of a few people who were (and who have good credentials).

But you didn't ask for that so I will just observe.

Budish, Gaarder and Oliver all had a nice camp. I would guess Budish and Oliver get invitations for the U18 team. 8)

I think Walters and Leddy too. For Gopher recruits, I don't think Birkholz was invited. Just what I heard... but it's third hand info.

I just heard that Leddy, Oliver, Budish and Walters are going. Can anyone confirm? Others that might have made it? List that is posted?

Those 4 are 100% confirmed. The final list is to be posted by Thursday.
Paul Phillips from cedar rapids also has made it as well as Steven Whitney from Lawrence Academy.

I'm pretty sure Birkholz and Schmidt did not make it. Though again, that's third hand info.

Wow, didn't see that one coming! He had seven points for the Jaguars as a sophmore last year and four points (3g) at the Select Camp. Is this kid enormous or something?

Congrats kid, now do your country proud!!

EDIT: Not enormous... 5'9" 163lbs

Does anyone find it interesting that 5 forwards from Minnesota were selected and only one D?

Not really... Mattson is not eligible as a member of the NTDP and Alt would have turned them down anyhow.

Why would that matter?
Are you looking at a line of MN players?
