Who will win State this year?

Not much discussion going on in the last couple days so I figured I would post and see if we could get something going.

Who will win State in Class AA and in Class A this season?

In Class AA I will pick White Bear Lake. I believe alot of people might think that Holy Angels will win but I believe it will be hard for them to repeat. White Bear will get over the curse this year and go on to win. They have experience and size. They also have some good goaltending that will help them in Sections and the State Tourney.

In Class A Duluth Marshal will be the champions. They played very well in the tourney last year. Since they have experience and a good nucleaus of players returning I believe they will be the favorites.

RinkRat, I like your picks both those clubs would be nice to see win it all. White Bear Lake team from last season was fun to watch play. I liked their tempo a lot.
Same goes for Duluth Marshall they were small but man could they fly around a sheet of ice. Hope your picks are right on. I would certainly like to see both schools raise that banner in 2006.

Well if I say anyone except AHA for AA I would forever be banned from the rink, which would make it hard for me to get to work. I do pick AHA, although the repeat is tough. They look, so far very quick and strong. Too early to tell. WBL is also a pick that I like. In A I think you cannot rule out Warroad or any team from 5A.
GO STARS

________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

I think AHA will win state this year for AA, and for A I think it will be Warroad or Duluth Marshall

I think AHA will win AA but would like to see White Bear. Unsure about A as it seems a lot of quality teams will have solid first lines but not sure which teams will have the most depth - does TRF have a shot?

The result seems to have alot to do with how the teams bantam A team did the season before. How was AHA's Bantam team last year?

Ya, of course I would love to see WBL win it this year. But they do stand a legit shot at doing it, they have all of the key thing a team needs win the whole thing. But of course they have the course, which I hate more then hill murray hockey, and hopefully they can get that off of their back. I think that AHA, or Jefferson also stands a good shot at winning it. But not BJ because if wbl makes it to state(kow) BJ and WBL would play in the first round. Anyways we have about 3 weeks until the season starts best of luck to all teams. except hill and cent.
The curse lives on.....

So biapf or whatever your name is, yuo had to bring up private schools. Why is everyone so jealous of people for going to private schools. Is it that a lot of people in private schools such as Blake, Benilde, St. Thomas, Breck, and SPA are wealthier than a lot of people who do not go to private schools, notice I did not say all. Also AHA has some money. Or is it because they have been competitively better as the years have gone on, and now people think about AHA when they hear Minnesota High School hockey. I do not understand your reasoning. Also for my state tourney picks I like AHA and either Breck or a young St. Thomas team if their new transfer students can play well together. They are young but I think they will make state and have a chance to surprise any team in A this year. Also for all the people who mentioned Warroad, they are not going to be that great this year.

Why do you think anyone is jealous? They dont make hockey players they take them from other schools, and then they win and they think they have a great program. anyone could win if them took the best players and put them all on the same team.
Play another sport if ya dont got what it takes to DangleMcFangle.

We'll take that KDavis20

"Also for all the people who mentioned Warroad, they are not going to be that great this year." KDavis20...The Warroad Bantam team was the last Class A team playing in the state last season, they ended a good International Falls season and lost a good game to Duluth East outshooting them in the process 45 - 20, so they took the play to them; Duluth's goalie played the type of game you want to get out of a goaltender with the marbles on the line. They also only had 1 loss to what would be considered a Class A school which was to EGF early last season - a game which has had it's share of ink. People in Hockeytown are relieved to have someone else be the favorite for a change. The favorite in 8A has to be TRF but they have to go through the "big ice" in Warroad to get to the cities. They have a real stud in Forney but in a one game match-up you'll probably see Dude Marvin handing him the toilet paper and even buying him Jerky and a hot chocolate as the game goes on. By the end of the game if you ask Dude what kind of gum Forney's chewing he'll say Dentyne.

AHA's bantam team was exellant. Look around the twincities and you will see. Oh their JV was pretty amazing also. Besides bantam teams that are good do not necessarily mean the high school team will be good.
Get over it.....
GO STARS

Oh and their bantam team also.....
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

White Bear Lake will get over the hump this season and bring a title home putting a woodshed schooling on the Angels in the process and you clowns can take that to the bank. Why you ask......more Catholics enrolled in WBL school district, Plain and simple

In single A it will be Duluth Marshall winning the title. Lets see if Randolph and company can put DM on the proverbial radar for 2006-2007 season after that. Insiders tell me that is the clause which has thus far kept the overtaxed hockey fan from enjoying this tilt. Looking forward to a home and home at MARS and the DECC. As they say in Elk River 'git-r-done'.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... =jls81>JLS 81 at: 11/18/05 2:13 pm

Ok then I hate to say this but I'll take AHA because of the "Trebil Factor". He may be the best in the state right now at the HS level. I know the players have to do the job on the ice but I thought he did a better job in last years tourney than any other AA coach. On the A side I'd like to see either the Hilltoppers or Section 8 rep but (I'm already ducking) it's easy whoever comes out of 5A, they really are loaded.

settle down hillhockey. everytime someone takes a small shot at our beloved pioneers it is a compliment because they know of our tradition and that we have won so much in the past and will win again in the future.

have to agree that white bear is a threat every year with the depth they have. one of these years they are eventually going to win a first round game and the momentum will carry through to a championship ala the Red Sox and White Sox.

EREmpire is correct there is nothing more to it than the long running spoof on the "Superiority of the Catholic Hockey Player". Posters to this fine forum have been "running" with that toungue and cheek insight now for well over 2 years. Started by our beloved Slapshooter I do believe.
I will however begin to use the emotion icons so as not to offend anyone on the board.

You'd better. People are offended easily and this is a very politically correct board.

But anyway, that is an important tidbit of info regarding the religious persuasion of da Bears. Why?

Well, least we forget the year Anoka won it knocking off AHA in the semis. How did that happen? Lots of Catholics on the Anoka squad.

If the info you have is accurate...could be a big difference. They played twice last year and tied. Both lost key seniors but return a lot of talent. If WBL has added Catholics........

who will win state.

Meanwhile, back on the topic, regardless of religious preference, conference, tradition or homerism, the teams that stay healthy, avoid suspensions, and play defense end up at the Xcel.
