Great game! Congrats to Tartan. They went toe-to-toe with the Elks and got a solid goal in the last 2 minutes to get the win. Give Elk River credit for a great effort. There should be no dispute on the winning goal. It was a great play by Tartan. Friday's semi-finals for both A and AA should be great. There's nothing like the MN State HS Hockey Tourney!

holy angels-tartan

Post by hockeydad »

Holy Angels aren't used to facing big physical teams. closest they came to Tartan in the Missota was Shakopee, which held them to 3 goals about a month ago, but that was all because of the goalie.

Wood's got to have the game of his life tomorrow if Tartan is to have a chance. If he's on, and Tartan gets a few breaks, they have a chance. But this holy angels team is the most talented I've seen them put on the ice over the last few years.

prediction 4-1 stars
hoping for the upset, though.

ER & Tartar Sauce on Zander

Post by StarsFan »
ER was so impressive. After years of the goons decking
everything that moved, they were very fast and very clean. I was shocked compared to ER teams past.

I can't believe Tartan pulled it out, it was a
great game winner. Titans or Zander, the run is soon done. AHA will have no problem with Tartan.
Looks like AHA/Moorhead in the final. Whoda thunk?

Great game Godlewski. Ostroot, nice.

I was more impressed with the previous ER players that made it to state. ER been more physical than years past. That was a great play by Tartan, minute that #22 layed back to pass it, tell that the momentum was going to change and someone was going to be open. Ostroot did that nice pass to himself also<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
"I dont go to the club for the fire that comes out of the walls"

AHA probably will win by a few goals tomorrow yes, but those Tartan kids will play very hard and have the thrill of their lives. Congrats to them on giving their school its first ever tournament win in exciting fashion. Good Luck to Tartan the rest of the way. Wood will have to equal performances by past Classic Suburban goalies like Stalock and Davenport to keep them in it tomorrow, but should be fun to watch.

Spuds, the STA fans were just trying to have a little fun on Wednesday with their chants. I didn't take it that seriously. Just don't tell some one to seriously "have some class" and attack their school's reputation on this forum and then go and try to make fun of a good Elk River team.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckler05 at: 3/4/05 7:39 am

Hey, derwood -

What time do classes start at ERHS?

Just kidding, man. You guys were great in the stands all year. Why do you think the kid held the section trophy up over the glass at the Coliseum? Student support makes the game alot more fun.

Helluva season Elks! It was great watching you guys. I give Tartan a lot of credit, definitely surprised me especially after the Elks went up 2-0, I thought they were done, but they fought their way back. Best of luck against AHA. Just make sure Moorhead doesn't win it all <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Quote:
Have some class.....

Give me a break, I woulda done the same thing to him<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

One final thought, the only call I had a problem with was the on the first goal. I didn't understand why that icing was called off. Otherwise, great game! Didn't approve of all of the ref's calls (both ways, some Tartan calls were bad too), but the players did a great job playing through that. You need to get a louder horn <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Thanks for the respect <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

As far as anyone who says ER doesn't belong because they have gone 0-4 in the last two state tourneys, you need to get your head examined. Not only do they have to get through the solid 4AA to get to state, but they have performed well at state. 3 OT games and the other loss was a 1 goal loss. Last year they lost to the eventual runner-up's in OT and then lost to Lakeville in OT. This year they lost to a very surprising Tartan team by one goal and a team that was rated #1 during the season, Jefferson, in 2OT. If you still think we didn't belong at state, you have problems that there is no cure for... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Yeah, well...I'm not going to say that you didnt belong at state. You lost to Tartan, but from what I am hearing, that was one of the worst games you played all year. Also, many people predicted Bloomington Jefferson as state champions.

Elk River always plays well in big games. I just wish they would stick with kids from their own program.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/grin.gif ALT=" >D">
