I am a 1st time poster to the Pro Hockey forum, so excuse me if this question has been hashed out already. But my son is a PeeWee age goalie (13) and asked me the other day how many Americans play goalie in the NHL. I said I didn't know and tried to look it up online. I came up with (3) on NHL teams - with Miller being the only starter I think..?
SO my question would be - Why is that? Lack of Goaltending training in the US? Not the best athletes are playing the position? Politics? favortism?
Seems like they all come from Canada and Europe. Maybe I am wrong but it would be nice to hear some reasons why it seems to be a extremely low number, considering the amount of players we have in the US..
