Quality of Game

Post by You Puck »

from some of the teams that i've seen it seems as though the number of quality players/teams are down this year. Although this is expected considering the 86' birthday may go down as the greatest crop of players to come out of Minnesota.

there are many 87 birthdays that were seniors last year as well. The senior class last year is probably the best crop of players to ever come out of minnesota.

Maybe the problem is your watching the wrong teams play. I've only watched one game so far and I saw six Elite 1 players, two who are rated by the NHL CSS.

The 88 year is by far the best year of hockey players this state has had in a long long time. There are numerous players who have LEFT to play juniors and such that you are not seeing play. (And hes right... your watching the wrong teams than)

the 87's of the class of 2005 are lightyears ahead of the 88's of this year.. i agree with what hckyFAN247 said about the class of 87. if you look at the class as a whole, it is jaw dropping.

Class of 2005 (last year seniors) standouts

Chris VandeVelde Moorhead
Travis Vermeulen Centennial
Mitch Ryan Cloquet/Esko/Carlton
Dan Sexton Apple Valley
Rob Johnson Duluth East
Drew Fisher Moorhead
Will Collins Edina
Tyler Hawkins Academy Of Holy Angels
Cory Loos Moorhead
Chris Meyers Eden Prairie
Alex Coles Apple Valley
Pat Connelly White Bear Lake
Matt Becker Moorhead
Darin Holland Rochester Century
Scott Baker Cloquet/Esko/Carlton
Austun Tavis Grand Rapids
Tom Stunyo Grand Rapids
Andy Wilcox Rochester Century
Mark Columbus Grand Rapids

RJ Anderson Centennial
Brian Lee Moorhead
Brian Connelly Bloomington Jefferson
Mike Phillipi Hill-Murray
Jon Ammerman Moorhead
Kurt Davis Wayzata
Jared Hummel Academy Of Holy Angels
Matt Hickey Cretin-Derham Hall
Pat Fogerty Forest Lake
Brett Barta Moorhead
Chase Traeger Mounds View
Mike Krempa Academy Of Holy Angels
Andy Winslow Robbinsdale Armstrong
Tyler Fast Cloquet/Esko/Carlton

TJ Oshie Warroad
Robby Dee Breck
Matt Ambroz New Prague/Montgomery-Lonsdale
Shea Walters Hibbing
Steve Festler Little Falls
Scott Kozlak Duluth Marshall
Alec Holen Thief River Falls
Will Smith Orono
Kyle Schmidt Hermantown
Ben Bengston Warroad
Josh Brodeen Warroad
Mike Pilot South St. Paul
Eric Bigham Benilde-St. Margaret's
Andrew Birkholz Breck
Dan Malone Totino-Grace
Chris Connolly Duluth Marshall
Greg Beller Lake Of The Woods
Isak Tranvik Benilde-St. Margaret's
Chris Modich Hibbing
Seth Bissell Two Harbors
Devin Ceglar Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl
Kyle Altobelli Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl
Tony Huberty Hermantown
Chris Lappen Benilde-St. Margaret's
Grant Slick Lake Of The Woods
Nick LaBounty Duluth Marshall
Casey Harling Greenway
Brett Bahr International Falls

Matt Niskanen Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl
Kyle Hardwick Warroad
Aaron Gens Lake Of The Woods
Eric Olimb Warroad
Brian Schack Totino-Grace
Brent Kettelkamp Breck
Jesse Downey Silver Bay
Chris Babich Eveleth-Gilbert
Carl Babich Eveleth-Gilbert
Brett McCarthy Benilde-St. Margaret's
Brent Miller Totino-Grace
Mike Schmidt St. Cloud Cathedral
Jake Duick Lake Of The Woods
Brent Brodersen Breck
Derek Lundquist Hibbing
Graham Parson Hibbing
Dillon Donovan St. Thomas Academy
Andrew Bergeson Red Wing
Nikki Holt Hermantown
Tony Scherber Proctor

and some of the top goalies to come out of MN in a while

Max Dodds Eden Prairie
Spencer Deutz Moorhead
Charlie Doth St. Cloud Tech
Alex Kangas Rochester Century
Weston Johnson Centennial
Derek Hittle Moorhead
Tim Krystosek Maple Grove
Matt Wanvig Osseo
Pat Kriegler Roseville
Sam Warhol Elk River
Alec Richards Breck
Dave Norling Totino-Grace
Mark Thiele Warroad
Brennan Poderzay Hibbing
Cameron Voss St. Thomas Academy
Tanner Wightman Lake Of The Woods
John Paszkiewicz Richfield
Joel Rindelaub St. Cloud Cathedral
Jordan Haller Breck
Ole Hovde Shakopee

not to mention members of the class of 2005 that left high school and were playing elsewhere during their senior year

Alex Stalock
Chad Rau
Blake Wheeler
Mike Kramer
Chris Hepp
Justin Bostrom
Justin Milo
Ryan Thang
Chris Peluso
and not to mention, Jeff Frazee

i think reading all of these names reminds people of what the class of 05 had to offer and that they ARE one of the best graduating classes for overall talent to come out of MN in a long while

The list speaks for itself
Many other names that were very good hockey players that never got the "star" light but made significant team contributions. The last 2 years were very deep...
